Bell Gardens, California - On Tuesday,  Levette Crespo, 43, the wife of Mayor Daniel Crespo Sr., 45, of Bell Gardens has been arrested in connection for the fatal shooting of her husband. Mayor Crespo Sr. suffered multiple gunshot wounds just before 2:30 p.m. during a domestic dispute with his wife at their residence, 6300 block of E. Gage Ave.
Crespo Sr. was taken to a local hospital where he was later pronounced deceased. Homicide investigators are looking into a motive why Crespo's wife shot him multiple times in the upper torso during a heated argument that involved their son, Daniel Crespo Jr., 19.
Crespo Jr. and his father were struggling when Levette grabbed a gun and  fatally shot her husband three times.
Crespo Sr. is originally from La Bronx, New York and was elected mayor of Bell Gardens last year. He became a member of the Bell Gardens Common Council in 2001. The couple also have a 26-year-old daughter.
Levette has admitted to investigators that she shot Crespo Sr. Neighbors told media outlets that Levette was known to be a very jealous wife and had confronted her husband in the past about her jealousy.
