El Paso, Texas - On Tuesday, Alberto Montelongo, 40, an off-duty Supervisor with the U.S. Border Patrol was taken into custody after a two hour standoff with El Paso County Sheriff's deputies. Montelongo was charged with two felony counts of attempted murder for critically wounding Jésus Rodríguez, 36, who is dating Montelongo's wife, Blanca Angelica Parra, 48. Parra was a former police officer in Cuidad Juarez until the Summer of 1995 and became a U.S. citizen in 2000. She later joined the U.S. Border Patrol.
Parra married Montelongo in February 2014, but is separated and filed for a divorce.
Montelongo's bond was set at $300,000 and remains in custody.
According to an affidavit, Montelongo went to the home of his wife and found her with Rodríguez. Montelongo told them that the relationship "was going to end today." He then shot Rodríguez in the head and the bullet was lodged in the center of his brain. Rodríguez was able to drag himself to the bathroom and then call 911. He remains in critical condition.
Montelongo also attempted to shoot his wife, but the gun misfire or jammed. After a brief struggle for the weapon, Montelongo grabbed a knife from the kitchen and Parra tried to take it away and suffered cuts to her hands and fingers. Montelongo told Parra that he was going to kill her, according to the affidavit. She then managed to escape from the home.
The El Paso County Sheriff's Office confirmed that Montelongo was arrested on Thursday for a domestic violence incident involving Parra and was released on Friday on a $2,500 bail.
(HNNUSA) Facebook (FB) postings or confessions circulating after Montelongo's arrest alleged that he was seeing another woman while Parra was separated from him. Several photos were posted where a woman, which will be identified only as PL apparently was dating Montelongo for three years up to Tuesday's shooting. In another photo, PL and Montelongo are seen kissing.
The FB postings indicate that Parra was seeing other men when both Montelongo and she would separate before dating Rodríguez. Even one posting by Shayne Edwards suggested that Parra would be willing to get back with her husband, if he would come up with $10K for a tummy tuck and butt enhancement. Montelongo and Parra both owned the house in Montana Vista where the altercation and shooting occurred.
Jésus Rodríguez who was shot in the head by Montelongo told authorities that Parra was his girlfriend. Parra had told Montelongo to move on, but he thought that both would be getting back together, if he paid for some of Parra's plastic surgeries, according to Edwards.
Frank Lee also posted that it was PL who bailed Montelongo last week and that she contacted Parra to find out who she was. Parra and Montelongo were trying to work things out when he learned of Rodríguez. Apparently, he wanted both women, but didn't want them to be involved with other men.
The FB users even implied that the information being posted would be shared with authorities investigating the case.
