Guadalajara, Jalisco, Mexico - On Monday, Pastor Samuel Joaquín Flores, 77, passed away along side his family. Flores was the leader of La Luz del Mundo (LLDM Light of the World/Church of the Living God), a Pentecostal theology and a Christian doctrine religious group, which has a chain of churches in at least 50 countries, according to a press release by the LLDM. Flores passed away around 6:10 a.m. on Monday in Guadalajara.
Since his death on Monday, more than 300,000 followers have arrived in Guadalajara for the Flores funeral service and burial.
LLDM has between 5 to 7 million followers around the world. Flores along with his father Aaron "Eusebio" Samuel González (passed away in 1964) were the founders of the LLDM, today the religious organization, which was founded in 1926 has grown into numerous non-profit foundations, libraries, hosiptal, businesses and other entities. Both were considered the living apostles of God, according to the LLDM membership.
Under Flores, the LLDM went through a period of secrecy, allegations of human trafficking, fraudulent real estate transfers and alleged institutionalized sexual abuse of minors.
His church and followers, friends and family are mourning his untimely passing.
The LLDM Church has members in 19 U.S. states, including Washington, D.C. and in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. The worth of the LLDM is estimated in the 100's of millions of dollars in revenue, investments and additional other property assets around the globe.
After a week long funeral service, viewing ceremony and a scheduled final journey through the Hermosa Provincia neighborhood, a funeral procession through local streets will begin at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, December 14 and ending at the interior of the temple where the remains of the late Pastor Samuel Joaquín Flores will be layed for internal rest.
