Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates - On Thursday, Abu Dhabi police announced the arrest of Dalal al Hashemi, 38, aka, "Lone Wolf" who is accused of brutally stabbing Ibolya Ryan, 47, to death. Ryan, was an American living in Abu Dhabi and a kindergarten teacher since September 2013.
Hashemi dressed in traditional all black covered attire, was caught on video surveillance camera going into the mall area restroom on December 1 around 1:00 p.m. and then living after 2:00 p.m. She waited for her victim about an hour.
Hashemi afterwards went outside and managed to escape in a white vehicle, but video surveillance spotted her vehicle with a United Arab Emirates (UAE) flag in the rear covering a license plate. Within 48 hours of Ryan's murder, Hashemi was arrested at her residence by police. Police released the dramatic video of the murder scene and Hashemi's arrest.
A home made bomb was found near an American doctor's home. Police were able to disarm the bomb and no one was injured. When police search the Hashemi's home, they found blood stains in the steering wheel of the vehicle and crude parts to make home made bombs similar to the bombs that were found.
Hashemi is believed to have targeted Americans and is now facing charges for murder and terrorist acts in the UAE. She has confessed to killing Ryan and planting a bomb at a doctor's home, according to police.
Ryan is divorced and is survived by two 11-year-old twin sons and a 15-year-old daughter. The twins are in protective custody until Ryan's ex-husband, Paul from Denver, Colorado goes to the UAE and takes custody of his children.
The U.S. Department of State on October 28 had send out a warning to Americans teaching in Abu Dhabi that they might be targeted by terrorists after a message was posted on a Jihadi website.
