Las Vegas, Nevada - On Saturday, Anthony Pettis, 27, defeated Gilbert Melendez in the beginning (less then 2 minutes) of the second round. Pettis kept his UFC Lightweight Championship title for a second year. Last year, Pettis of Milwaukee defeated Benson Henderson in the first round in Milwaukee, WI with a arm bar and became the UFC Lightweight Champ.
Melendez's faced his first tapping defeat in his 12-year career when he tapped on submission under Pettis's guillotine technique on the ring.
