Monterrey, Nuevo León, Mexico - José Isidro Cruz Villareal, aka, "El Pichilo," an Apodaca prison escapee and a known Zeta leader in charge of the municipalities of Hidalgo, El Carmen, Mina and Abasolo is wanted for ordering the massacre of the Kombo Kolombia band members. Jorge Domene Zambrano, spokesman for the state of Nuevo León Security Agency has confirmed, that Villareal was the mastermind who had ordered the January 25 killings of 17 members of the Kombo Kolombia band.
Last weekend, a Zeta suspect was taken into custody by the military near the massacre scene. He later confessed to have been a lookout when the massacre occurred at an abandon ranch in Mina where the bodies of the band members were discarded in a well after being tortured and executed.
One of the band members managed to escape and notified authorities about the massacre. He led police to where the bodies could be recovered.
Villareal was one of 29 prisoners who escaped from the Nuevo León Apodaca Prison on February 19, 2012.
