Zaragoza, Spain - Several photos of the corpse of the late Ernesto Che Guevara, 45, who was shot by a firing squad in Bolivia were recently found in Spain, according to Imanol Arteaga. Arteaga released Guevara's corpse photos that have never been published.
He says, that his uncle Luis Cuartero, a priest in Bolivia had taken the photos to Spain just days after Guevara was killed by a military firing squad. The photos were taken by French AFP photographer, Marc Hutten who gave copies to Cuartero.
Guevara who was considered a revolutionary and rebel was shot on October 9, 1967 in La Higuera and then his body was taken to a hospital in Valle Grande for media press exhibition. Foreign press photographers were allowed to take photos of Guevara's body to prove he had been executed along with other rebels by a firing squad.
Arteaga with the help of a local photojournalist from El Heraldo Newspaper were able to learn that the Guevara photos were authentic.
