Madison, WI - On Friday, Antonio "Tony" Robinson, 19, an Afro-American was fatally shot by a Madison Police Officer Matt Kenny, 45, a 12-year veteran in the department who responded around 6:30 p.m. to a report that man was involved in an alleged battery and was causing a disturbance by running between traffic on the street near the 1100 block of Williamson Street. When Officer Kenny arrived at the scene, he saw a man run into a home and immediately went to that home. The officer heard a disturbance inside the home and forced his way inside. Kenny drew his weapon during an altercation with Robinson who was then shot multiple times by the officer. Officer Kenny after shooting Robinson, he then began to administer for aid, according to Madison Police Chief Mike Koval.
Robinson was not armed, according to his grandmother Sharon Irwin, but was shot at least five times by the officer, she told a crowd that had gathered for an impromptu rally denouncing police murders of young Black men in Madison.
Robinson was pronounced deceased at a local hospital. The Wisconsin Department of Justice Division of Criminal Investigations has taken over the shooting investigation, according to Chief Koval.
Two males were questioned by police and a group of people went to a Dane County building where they were being questioned and held a sit-in for their release.
Irwin during an earlier gathering near the shooting scene told a crowd that Robinson stood 6 feet tall and wouldn't heard anyone and that he "was hunted down and then shot" by police.
Officer Kenny involved in the death of Robinson was placed on paid administrative duty pending the outcome of the shooting investigation.
Robinson graduated by Sun Prairie High School in 2014, six months early and wanted to study business in MATC. He is survived by two brothers ages, 13 and 15 and a 9-year-old sister who is suffering from an illness, according to family members. Robinson helped take care of his sister, Irwin says.

Wisconsin court records show that Antonio "Tony" Robinson, 19, was charged with one felony count for armed robbery in April 2014 and plead guilty. He was given three years probation. Robinson along with Eric T. Aikens, 19, Clifvon R. West, 19, Dakwaun R. Montgomery, 19, and Emma J. Gullickson, 19, were all charged for felony armed robbery. Montgomery and West pleaded guilty to armed robbery.
Aikens was charged with an additional felony count for burglary of a building and one misdemeanor count for battery. Gullickson was charged with an additional felony count for burglary of a building. Both Aikens and Gullickson have court appearances pending, according to court records.
