Henry R. Sifuentes, Former Co-founder Of El Conquistador Newspaper Passed Away

Sifuentes was instrumental in establishing the Hispanic owned bilingual monthly newspaper, which later became a weekly informative edition for the Latino community in the Milwaukee area and adjacent counties in Racine and Waukesha.

Milwaukee, WI - On Saturday, Henry R. Sifuentes, 60, passed away, Victor Huyke, from El Conquistador Newspaper confirmed. Sifuentes was instrumental in establishing the weekly Hispanic owned El Conquistador Newspaper, under Conquistador, LLC. Sifuentes along with Victor Huyke, H. Nelson Goodson, Frankie Giron, Carlos Arsiniega, Dr. Tom Longoria and Cecil Negron founded the Conquistador, LLC, creating El Conquistador Newspaper in July 4, 1998, which began publishing the monthly bilingual news and informative edition and later became a weekly newspaper.

Sifuentes after leaving El Conquistador, LLC, he started Que Tal? magazine with Rolando Nañez another former employee from El Conquistador. The Que Tal? magazine was short lived after a lawsuit filed by Huyke was settled. Huyke had claimed in the lawsuit a business "trade secrets" infringement.

Despite the result of the lawsuit, Sifuentes and Huyke maintained a friendship. Sifuentes worked for CBS 58/Telemundo 63 in advertising sales. He was a proud member of the LGBT community in Milwaukee.

"Henry was a champion in the establishment of El Conquistador. His dedication and commitment to creating a community newspaper was matched by his love for our community. He will be missed," Huyke stated in the El Conquistador Facebook  (FB) account.

Sifuentes was a recipient for a kidney transplant and had been waiting for the last three years for a matching donor, some people offered to donate a kidney, but weren't a match, according to Sifuentes. Sifuentes also posted on his FB account that he was going through dialysis treatment for the last three years and had helped him to stay alive.

He suffered from diabetes too.

Last Tuesday, he was admitted to a local hospital for an illness and had gone through one surgery. He was scheduled for a second one, but passed away around 4:00 p.m. today.

Sifuentes will be missed by friends and family.
