Milwaukee, WI - On Sunday, hundreds of people marched and rallied for immigration reform including former U.S. Senator Russ Feingold (D-WI) a pro-immigrant candidate for the U.S. Senate who is running against Senator Ron Johnson (R-WI) who is considered anti-immigrant. Feingold told the hundreds of pro-immigrant people at the rally just outside of the Milwaukee County Courthouse that if elected, he will push for comprehensive immigration reform for every undocumented immigrant in the U.S. today.
The 10th Anniversary of the May 1st immigrant and worker rights march was sponsored by Voces de la Frontera, an immigrant and worker rights organization. According to VDLF, more than 20 cities around the country held immigrant and worker rights marches and actions to reject the wave of hatred and racism directed towards immigrants coming from the national political debate. In Milwaukee, hundreds of people marched calling for the U.S. Supreme Court to uphold DAPA and DACA+ (an expansion of deportation protections to parents and Dreamers), to urge the City of Milwaukee to create local identification cards, and to begin mobilizing the vote against hatred and bigotry.
