Mexico City, Mexico - On Monday, a federal judge for the Third District of Federal Processing Penalties in Mexico City ruled that under Article 27 for International extradition, Joaquin "El Chapo" Guzmán Loera, the Sinaloa Cartel druglord can be extradited to Southern California in the U.S. to face a federal indictment for drug trafficking including importing and distribution of drugs. Guzmán Loera was moved on Saturday to the city of Juarez where maximum prison number 9 is located in the State of Chihuahua, which is close to the U.S. border town of El Paso, Texas.
Guzmán Loera could be extradited to the U.S. at anytime, according to the Mexican federal judge. U.S. authorities are making arrangements with Mexican officials to take custody of Guzmán Loera.
Guzmán Loera is facing life in prison, if convicted of drug trafficking charges. Once in U.S. soil, Guzmán Loera will mostly likely spent the rest of his days in a federal prison. Guzmán Loera has escaped twice from Mexican maximum prisons.
