Milwaukee, WI - On Saturday, Ruben Casarez Jr., 24, was charged with two felonies for attempted 1st-degree intentional homicide and 1st-degree reckless injury and two misdemeanors for violating a domestic abuse injunction and bail jumping in connection with the stabbing incident of his former girlfriend at the Milwaukee Area Technical College (MATC). Casarez had recently been released from prison and wanted to see his child who he had with his former girlfriend, Irene Johnson, 24. After several failed attempts to see his child, he began to confront Johnson who refused Casarez' requests to see his child.
Johnson told Casarez that she already had a boyfriend and wanted Casarez to leave her alone. Last Wednesday, in a desperate measure he went to MATC and attacked Johnson with a butcher knife inside an office, according to the criminal complaint.
Casarez stabbed Johnson multiple times and two MATC security officers who heard her screams coming from a locked office, broke down the door and took Casarez into custody.
A judge set a $100,000 cash bond for Casarez and if convicted on all counts, he is facing up to 100 years in prison, according to court records.
