Milwaukee - On Tuesday, the Milwaukee County Sheriff's Office (MCS) released the name of a 45-year-old man who drowned on July 5 at the Mitchell Park lagoon. The victim was identified as Dean Dupuis, according to Fran McLaughlin, MCS Public Information Officer.
The Milwaukee County Medical Examiner's Office ruled the cause of death as asphyxia by fresh water and manner of death as suicide.
Dupuis went into the lagoon and was found by a dive team from Milwaukee Fire Department Engine 26. He went under the water for a half hour. Dupuis body was later found on the West side of the lagoon.
The lagoon is more than 8 feet deep in the middle, muddy, and has plant growth, which could entangle any experience or unexperience swimmer underwater, according to a firefighter.
