Milwaukee -Two men have been charged with the quadruple homicide resulting from a robbery and alleged love affair. Both Anthony Edward Barnes, 23, and Desmond Dejuan Laster, 21, were charged with 4 counts of 1st-degree intentional homicide and use of a dangerous weapon, 1 count of arson of building and 1 count of possession of a firearm by a felon.
The criminal complaint details the confession made by Barnes in what transpired in the homicides of Rachel M. Thompson, 24, and her two sons ages 3 and 4, in the South side of Milwaukee, and the homicide of Brittney M. Robertson, 19, who was later found shot in the head. Barnes confessed to police that Robertson had planned to rob Thompson and had recruited him and Robertson's boyfriend Laster to commit a robbery.
On February 26, when they arrived at Thompson's upper duplex, they found her sleeping on a sofa. One of the suspects awakened Thompson with a punch to the face, and then they duct tape her eyes and mouth after Thompson had told them where the $800 and a gun were. Robertson stabbed Thompson repeatedly with a knife, which broke and Robertson got another one and stabbed her again. Then, Laster told Barnes to shoot Thompson who was barely alive.
Laster afterwards took both children to the bathroom, and placed plastic bags in their heads and then duct tape the bags to suffocate both children. Barnes said Robertson had also stabbed 3-year-old Jaden, according to the criminal complaint.
They spend several hours in a motel and Laster later decided to kill Robertson because she was too hot and police were looking for her. Laster suspected she would turn them in, if she was arrested. Later in the afternoon, Laster ordered Barnes to fatally shoot Robertson, which he did.
Barnes admitted to police that Robertson was in love with Maurice Visor Sr., the 6-weeks-old baby's father and she hated Thompson for being in the way. But, Robertson was murdered and could dispute Barnes alleged confession.
Last week Friday, Maurice Visor Jr., 6-weeks-old was discoverd missing after the homicides, The child was later found outside a North side church. Homicide investigators went to 836-838 S. 12th St., after firefighters responding to a fire in the upper duplex discovered Thompson, 24, and her two children, Torian Thompson-Carter, 4, and Jaden Thompson-Carter, 3, murdered.
Robertson was found murdered around 6:15 p.m. on February 26, in the Northwest side of Milwaukee. She was fatally shot in the head. Robertson shared the duplex with Thompson in the South side. Robertson had disappeared along with baby Maurice.
Police Chief Edward Flynn had confirmed, Thompson and her two siblings had been murdered before the upper duplex was set on fire.
The Milwaukee County District Attorney's Office is reviewing the case and will most likely file lesser charges against three other suspects in connection to the quadruple homicides.
