Registered sex offender facing more than 70 years in prison for sexual assaults of a UWM student last month, and two minors in 2009

Milwaukee -On Tuesday, Joel Lee Hoffmann, 31, was charged with first-degree sexual assault, kidnapping, burglary and two counts of second-degree sexual assault in connection with the February 26, sexual assault of a 21 year-old student in the 3000 block of N. Maryland Ave near the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee campus.
Hoffman was also charged with 2 counts of second-degree sexual assault of a 16-year-old girl at the 2300 block of S. 15th St. St. on March 2009, and additional charges for three separate incidents of stalking and enticing a 14-year-old girl in the South side between August and September 2009, according to the criminal complaint.
The criminal complaint states, the female UWM student told police that after 2:30 a.m., she heard a knock on her door thinking it was her roommate and opened the door. When she opened the door, Hoffmann forced his way inside, and displayed a knife. He threaten the student with the knife, and then sexually assaulted her.
Authorities say, Hoffmann used a different name, aka "Joel Lynch" to acquire a real estate agent license in 2008. He worked out of the South side Metro Shorewest Realty at the 1000 block of W. National Ave. Hoffmann since his arrest, has been removed as an employee of Shorewest's Realty, according to Shorewest management.
He was convicted on Dec. 7, 1990 for 3rd-degree sexual assault and is a registered sex offender until Oct. 18 2018, according to the Wisconsin Sex Offender Registry,
If convicted on all charges, Hoffmann faces more than 70 years in prison. Hoffmann remains in custody on $750,000 bail.
