29-year-old Desean L. Dowell Charged With Substantial Battery And Use Of A Dangerous Weapon Against Milwaukee Housing Public Safety Officer

A Milwaukee Housing Public Safety officer was reported injured after Dowell assaulted him with an outdoor trash can metal lid.

Milwaukee, Wisconsin - On July 3, 2022, Desean L. Dowell, 29, was charged with one felony count for substantial battery and use of dangerous weapon for the July 2, 2022 assault of a Milwaukee Housing Public Safety officer (PSO) at the 2600 block of W. National Ave. in Milwaukee, according to court records. Dowell allegedly assaulted the PSO with an outdoor trash can metal lid. The PSO was injured in the face and arms.

If convicted, Dowell is facing up to 3 years and 6 months in prison for substantial battery and up to 5 additional years for use of a dangerous weapon. A $500 cash bail was set for Dowell.

Dowell is scheduled for a preliminary court hearing on August 9, 2022.
