Waupaca, WI - On Tuesday, both Zachary T. Hohn, 16, and Adam J. Ozuna, 24, were charged with two felony counts each for 1st-degree intentional homicide and robbery with the use of force in connection with the April 11 murder of Matthew Pagel, 25. A cash bail of $500,000 each was set for Hohn and Ozuna. Hohn was waived to adult court. Their next court date is scheduled for April 19, for further proceedings.
According to the criminal complaint, both Hohn and Ozuna had planned to rob and kill Pagel after they learned that he wanted to buy Adderall, a drug. The suspects picked up Pagel at a local hotel in Clintonville and took him to a southeast remote area where they beat him to death while inside a vehicle. Afterwards, they left the body in a ditch. The suspects went home and then told Hohn's girlfriend about Pagel's brutal beating. Hohn's girlfriend noticed that the suspects had blood in their clothes.
Hohn's girlfriend told her mother about the Pagel's beating in her mother's car. The mother decided to go out and look for Pagel. She found his body around 2:30 a.m. on Monday in a ditch and reported the murder to authorities.
Both Ozuna and Hohn were later arrested at a Bear Creek residence after authorities follow leads of their whereabouts on Facebook, according to the Waupaca Sheriff's Office.
Authorities believe that the suspects just decided to rob and kill Pagel. The suspects and Pagel apparently knew each other and didn't have any disputes prior to the murder. Pagel only had $200 and a jacket on him when he was killed, which both suspects took from Pagel's body, according to the criminal complaint.
