Bayamon, Puerto Rico - On Saturday, "Macho" Camacho, 50, of Bayamon was removed from life supports and later died. On Thursday, Camacho a former three time world boxing champion was declared clinically brain dead around 10:00 a.m. and remained on life supports.
On Tuesday while Camacho was seating inside a parked Ford Mustang outside a bar in his hometown, he was fatally wounded in the face. Another man, Alberto Yamil Mojica Moreno, 49, who accompanied Camacho was also fatally shot by unknown gunmen, according to Puerto Rican Police. Moreno was Camacho's childhood friend and was a known drug user. He was previously convicted of cocaine charges.
Police found cocaine on Moreno and dozens of small bags of cocaine in the vehicle he was driving.
Camacho suffered a gunshot wound to the jaw and the bullet exited his face and was logged into his shoulder damaging two vertebrae. The injury prevented blood flow to Camacho's brain.
If Camacho would have survived, he would have been paralyzed from the injury, according to Dr. Ernesto Torres, the director at the Medical Center in Puerto Rico.
No suspects have been arrested in the incident, but police continue with the investigation.
