Cuauhtémoc, Chihuahua, Mexico - On early Monday, the Mexican military launched a dragnet in search of several gunmen who fired their weapons inside the Expogan festival in the city of Cuauhtémoc injuring a member of the musical group los Tucanes de Tijuana, Entrelíneas dot com reported. The incident was reported after 2:00 a.m. on Sunday. Members of the Mexican military repelled the attack and the suspects fled in several pick ups.
The crowd panic and fled the area. No one was reported injured while exiting the festival. The 11 day country festival ran from March 24 and ended Sunday.
A member of the Tucanes de Tijuana suffered a head injury and was not identified, but was taken to a nearby medical facility by police, earlier reports indicated.
Carlos González, Spokesperson for the Chihuahua state Attroney General's Office has confirmed that none of the members of los Tucanes de Tijuana had been injured or targeted by gunmen as reported previously. González said, a an altercation between several men who were drinking got out of hand, but military security were able to control the incident. Afterwards, shots were reported fired and the crowd panic. Police responded immediately to the scene where the shots were fired and found no one. González didn't elaborate, if spent gun shells were found at the scene.
