Legendary Tejana Singer Shelly Lares Announced Her Retirement From The Road After 40 Years With Her Last Performance At The Tejano Music Awards Fan Fair 2022

Lares says that she is finally retiring after 40 years on the road and her last performance will be at the Tejano Music Awards Fan Fair 2022 on Saturday this weekend.

San Antonio, Texas - On Friday, Michelle Yvette Lares stage name Shelly Lares, 50, announced during the Tejano Music Awards Fan Fair 2022 in San Antonio over the weekend that she is finally retiring from the road after 40 years of performing her Tejano style of venue during the Little Miss Dynamite (LMD) tour. 

Her hit single songs include "Siempre Lo Esperare", "No Me Olvides" and hit album "Quiero Ser Tu Amante".

According to Lares, her last performance at the Tejano Music Awards Fan Fair 2022 will be at the Historic Market Square on Saturday, March 19. 2022 at 11:15p.m. (North San Saba Stage) in San Antonio, Texas. She plans to enter college next year and study to become a nurse.

Lares has been a vocalist, guitarist and a song writer who was nominated for Female Vocalist of the year for thirteen consecutive years and won other awards at the Tejano Music Awards.

Lares will also become a Life Time Achievement Award Recipient at the 4th Annual All Music Awards at the Alamodome on June 4, 2022 in San Antonio.

Lares will now record her own music, become a mentor and an advocate for Tejano music, especially promoting new artists and the upcoming generation of music venues. She will continue to be a music writer and a producer.

Lares is currently in a relationship with Mia Gutierrez, according to her Facebook account.

Lares has also performed at the three-day Mexican Fiesta in Milwaukee, Wisconsin multiple times in her singing and LMD performing career. Mexican Fiesta is the largest traditional Mexican cultural,  music and Tejano music venue in the Midwest and takes place at the lakefront Henry Mier Festival Grounds also known as the Summerfest Grounds in late August.
