Gaeta-Huerta randomly attacked Gallardo Sr. with a knife who was in his backyard multiple times causing non life-threatening injuries, according to West Allis Police.

West Allis, Wisconsin - On Saturday, Jose Gaeta-Huerta, 21, of Clinton was charged with one felony count of attempted 1st-degree intentional homicide for the March 2, 2022 knife attack of Rommel Gallardo Sr., 41, according to the criminal complaint. Gallardo Sr. was in his backyard at the 2000 block of S. 70th Street in West Allis before 5:20p.m. when Gaeta-Huerta allegedly attacked him with a knife. The suspect then fled the scene.
If convicted, Gaeta-Huerta is facing up to 60 years in prison. A $75,000 cash bail was set for Gaeta-Huerta.
Gallardo Sr. suffered multiple knife wounds. Gallardo's wife says that her husband was attacked randomly and stabbed behind his back. Apparently, Gallardo noticed that Gaeta-Huerta was looking at him and he asked the suspect what he wanted and then Gaeta-Huerta for no apparent reason assaulted Gallardo Sr. with a knife and fled the area.
Police arrived and found Gallardo Sr. with multiple knife injuries. He was transported to a local hospital for treatment for non life-threatening injuries.
Gaeta-Huerta has an open bench warrant for 1 misdemeanor count for disorderly conduct with use of a dangerous weapon on July 2020 in Walworth County.
Also in August 2021, Gaeta-Huerta has an open bench warrant and case for misdemeanor bail jumping in Walworth County. He was charged with one misdemeanor count each for resisting or obstructing an officer and 1 misdemeanor count for possession of THC.
In March 2022, he has a another open case in Walworth County for misdemeanor bail jumping.
