Brooklyn Center, Minnesota - The Brooklyn Center White female cop who murdered Daunte Wright, 20, on Sunday afternoon has been identified as Kimberly A. Potter, 48. Officer Potter claims that she mistook her personal service handgun for her taser when she fatally shot Wright in the chest. Potter's personal body camera footage was released and she is being heard as saying "taser, taser", “Oh shit I just shot him” another officer said “Oh well”, but she actually fired a single gunshot at Wright striking him in the chest.
It seems that after being an officer for nearly 26 years in the department, Potter can't tell the difference between a taser or a handgun.
Brooklyn Center Police Chief Tim Gannon is calling Wright's homicide an accidental shooting.
Wright was stopped for having an air freshener on his rear view mirror and police learned that he had an outstanding warrant. In the video, an officer is seen trying to handcuff Wright as Potter attempts to help, but Wright struggles and gets into the car and Potter's handgun could be clearly seen before she fired a single shot at Wright striking him in the chest.
Wright temporarily drove off, but stopped in a short distance and died. Wright's girlfriend was in the passenger's seat and witnessed Wright's murder.
