Nochixtlán, Oaxaca, México - On Sunday, the Mexican Federal Police massacred multiple protesters including teachers who have been protesting Mexico's President Enrique Peña Nieto's corrupt government and oppressive educational policies, which would only pay $7.00 pesos ($.50 cents an hour) to teachers and no pension or retirement benefits. The Governor of Oaxaca, Gabino Cué Monteagudo in a press release on Sunday reported that Federal Police in Nochixtlán and at the Hacienda Blanca or White Estate were not armed, but reports and photos released by Ixchel Welt from Sunday's protests show Federal Police armed and firing their weapons at civilians including Federal Police snipers in civilian clothes targeting and shooting at protesters.
Federal Police also engaged in a repressive action against teachers in San Pablo Huitzo near Nochixtlán, according to reports.
Welt reported in her Facebook account that at least 8 civilians are dead, 45 injured or wounded and 22 were arrested.
Protesters burned vehicles, blocked roads and threw stones at Federal Police who fired upon them.
