Milwaukee, WI - On Saturday, Jessica "Jess" Cavazos, the executive director and President of The Eleva Group, LLC. confirmed to Hispanic News Network U.S.A. (HNNUSA) that she will seek to become an Alderwoman for the 8th District. Cavazos will make her official announcement to run for the 8th Aldermanic seat in mid September.
Cavazos is the first candidate to announce to run for incumbent Alderman Robert "Bob" Donovan's seat. Donovan announced in July after filing his Declaration of Candidacy that he is running for Mayor in Milwaukee in the 2016 Spring election, but it is unclear yet if he will also run as alderman.
Cavazos became the UMOS Hispanic Woman of the Year in 2012 and formerly worked for U.S. Congresswoman Gwen Moore (D-Milw.). She is the founder of the LULAC Ladies Empowerment Group Council #330, which is a leading community volunteer organization for women in Milwaukee, advocating for women's rights and uplifting women to lead.
