Milwaukee - On Friday, the Milwaukee County Board demanded for County Executive Chris Abele to explain his reasoning for firing Sue Black, 51, the County Parks Director. Black was hired by former County Executive Scott Walker in 2003 and in 2009, the county parks system won an excellence award under Black.
Within the last year, she received two pay raises from Abele hiking her current salary up to $140,000 per year. He even recommended Black for another four years as parks director, but in a controversial move decided to replace Black.
During a press conference on Friday, Abele tried to explain that the county could do better without Black, but fell short in explaining what led him to decide to abruptly terminate Black. Abele is expected to name a temporary interim director on Monday.
Supervisor Peggy West confirmed during an interview with a local media outlet that Black was "shocked and devastated" due to her termination as county parks director.
The county board is expected to initiate it's own probe and audit into Black's termination. Board members are now seeking answers from Abele who is keeping quiet about his controversial decision to get rid of Black.
