Milwaukee - A Milwaukee parking checker driving a vehicle number 69 and working the Easter Sunday late afternoon shift cited more than 25 vehicles on S. Cesar E. Drive shortly after 6:40 p.m. Numerous cars belonging to the followers of the La Luz Del Mundo (Church of God) parked along the street at the 1200 block of S. Chavez Dr. were also cited while they attended their Easter Sunday mass.
Signs of Temperary No Parking Any Time had been posted earlier in the week and the parking meters, and bicycle racks had been removed for Monday's initial start of the $1.968 million dollar Cesar E. Chavez Business Improvement District #38 Streetscape Project.
The ticket fines for no parking start at $60.00 and is due immediately. The fine increases to a maximum fine of $90.00, if it is not paid within a certain date.
Eventhough the signs were posted earlier in the week, no ground breaking, street dividers or any construction vehicles and trucks have been moved in at this time on Chavez Drive.
Street construction is expected to begin on the East side of the street from South to North Chavez Drive between W. Greenfield Ave. to W. National Ave. bound traffic flow.
