33-year-old Gerardo Jimenez-Rico Sentenced To 54 Years In Prison For Killing His Sister Jocelyn Jimenez, 22, And Injuring Both His Parents In Milwaukee

Jimenez-Rico will serve 35 years in prison and 19 years supervision for killing his 22-year-old sister and shooting both his parents who survived in Milwaukee.

Milwaukee, Wisconsin - On Tuesday, Gerardo Jimenez-Rico, 33, was sentenced to 54 years in prison, but will serve 35 years in prison and 19 years of extended supervision for the January 22, 2025, homicide of his sister, Jocelyn Jimenez, 22, of Milwaukee who was fatally shot at the 3900 block of W. Cheyenne Ave., including his parents ages 56 and 54, who both survived. 

Jimenez-Rico had confessed to police that he shot his sister and both his parents for being bullied for years and his father had told him that he had to find another place to live, because he had been living off his parents for years. 

His parents were on vacation in Mexico and when they returned, they scolded him for not watching the dishes while they were gone and Jocelyn also jumped in the encounter. Jimenez-Rico then got tired of getting bullied by his parents and sister, so he took out a handgun and fatally shot Jocelyn and injured his parents.

Jimenez-Rico pled guilty on May 20, 2025 to 1st-degree reckless homicide, and 1 felony count for attempted 2st-degree intentional homicide, and 1 felony count for 1st-degree reckless injury.

Jimenez-Rico under a plea agreement was ordered to serve 33 years in prison,  but will serve 23 years in prison and 10 years supervision for 1st-degree reckless homicide, consecutive (serve separately) with count 2, he will serve 21 years in prison, but will serve 12 years in prison and 9 years supervision for 2nd-degree attempted intentional homicide. Jimenez-Rico was also sentenced to 20 years in prison, but serve 10 years in prison and 10 years supervision for 1st-degree reckless injury, but the prison sentence will be served concurrently (at same time) with count 1 and 2, according to Milwaukee County court records.
