Milwaukee, Wisconsin - On Wednesday, Nicholas Matzen, 35, was charged with 1st-degree reckless homicide and hiding a corpse in connection with the murder of Emily Rogers, 23, in mid April. If convicted, Matzen is facing up to 60 years in prison for the homicide and up to 12 years in prison and up to $12,000 in fines for hiding a corpse. Bail for Matzen was set at $500,000.
According to the criminal, Matzen told police that he killed Rogers after learning she was talking to someone else and wanted to breakup with him. Matzen admitted that he called a friend and both of them removed Rogers' body from the residence where she was living at the 2500 block of W. Becher St. in the Southside. Matzen and his accomplice took Rogers' body wrapped in a rug to an industrial park in St. Francis and discarded her body near a retention pond.
Rogers' body was found on May 5th.
The Milwaukee Medical Examiner's Office ruled Rogers death a homicide. She died from asphyxia and had marks in her neck.
