Madison. WI - On Wednesday, the Wisconsin Manufacturers and Commerce (WMC) and members of the business community who allegedly finance the campaigns for most of the GOP state legislators including the Republican Party of Wisconsin that control the state legislature today sent a letter to Democratic Governor Tony Evers attempting to keep the Wisconsin Department of Health Services (WDHS) from publicly reporting positive tests results of their employees and naming companies, businesses and etc.
They indicated that, if the public discovers COVID-19 positive cases at their businesses and publicly naming the business or company could economically effect business. It seems that the WMC is focused more on the economic impact of reported employee COVID-19 cases than actually indicating that such businesses actually practiced COVID-19 safety measures recommended by the WDHS to prevent such cases.
But, what they failed to mention in the letter was that employees today should become aware of any employees who have tested positive at the workplace, which treatment would also be available and do provide Personnel Protection Equipment (PPE) including practicing COVID-19 safety working measures at the workplace to ensure all employees do work in a safe environment and if the business has temporarily closed, that they have also cleaned the immediate infected area at their business.
It would definitely be a disservice for consumers and the public not to become aware that a certain business, company and etc. has reported positive employee COVID-19 cases to the WDHS and that they have actually cleaned the infected area before continuing to operate.
In other words, as consumers in Wisconsin, everyone should be aware, if a local business has had employees tested positive for COVID-19 and whether that business has temporarily closed to clean up the infected area, so consumers can continue to do business with such businesses during the pandemic.
