Milwaukee, WI - On Thursday, Richard L. Alva, 52, aka, "Gato" appeared at a Milwaukee County Circuit Court to face a charge for 1st-degree sexual assault of a child under 12, according to court records. The criminal complaint was filed on December 6 and accused Alva of having sexual contact with a male victim. Alva was taken into custody and booked on Wednesday. A cash bond of $50,000 was set for Alva, despite a hold placed on Alva, according to the Milwaukee County Sheriff's Office. Alva is scheduled to appear for a preliminary hearing on December 28.
If convicted, Alva is facing up to 60 years in prison.
According to court records, Alva was convicted on July 2004 for second-degree sexual assault of a child after he pleaded no contest and was sentenced to 7 years in prison, but only served 4 years in prison and 3 years probation. He was ordered to register as a sex offender for life in the Wisconsin Sex Offender Registry.
Alva lived next door to a run away teen center in the 800 block of S. 21st Street in Milwaukee.
Alva was recently released from prison and was on probation for a weapons conviction as a felon.
Alva is a former Mixtecas Motorcycle Club Milwaukee chapter president and co-founder. He served as a Treasurer when the group started in 1998.
