Delicias, Chihuahua, Mexico - On Monday, the Secretary of National Defense (Sedena) announced the arrest of Enrique López Acosta, aka, "El Cumbias" by the mexican army in the city of Delicias. The military began a gun battle confrontation early Saturday with La Nueva Gente. Enrique was injured in the gun battle and his brother Ever Horacio López Acosta, 27, aka, "El Ever" was reported killed.  Noel Salgueiro, aka, "El Flaco" was also injured, but eluded capture.
The Mexican government had offered more than $240,000 (3 million pesos) for information leading to Enrique's arrest.
Acosta is the known leader of La Nueva Gente, an armed gang hired as enforcers by the Joaquin "El Chapo" Guzman Loera Sinaloa Cartel. He was wanted for the murder of eight people in the Bocoyna municipality of Creel on March 15.
Acosta and other assailants were captured by surveillance cameras when they arrived at the Bocoyna about 5:30 a.m. in 13 vehicles, armed with weapons, and then blocked the Y highway.
The commando leader in the video was identified as Acosta who was seen seating inside an SUV in the passenger's side snorting cocaine after giving orders to his companions, to kill people in the area.
Some of the suspects are seen in the video walking across the field to a nearby condo complex building and just shot through windows killing the victims that included a woman and a female teenager. In total, 8 victims were murdered.
The eight victims murdered by Acosta and his group were identified as Juan Ramiro Solís, Luis Manuel Solís Bustillo, and José Luis Beltrán González from San Juanito. The five other victims were Guillermo Alfredo Gil Torres, Jesús Fidel Manjarrez Alonzo, Ventura Rodriguez Gil, Alfredo Jiménez Ruiz and Margarita Cabada Torres. Torres, 18, and a 14-year-old girl were shot at the Condo building in Creel where the suspects were trying to gain access. Torres died and the 14-year old survived the incident.
The cameras were installed shortly after the August 2008 multiple murders of 13 people in Creel.
Acosta was turned over to the Mexican Attorney General's Office in Mexico City for processing and pending charges against him.
