Milwaukee Southside Had 13 Non-fatal Shootings And 3 Homicides In The First Month Of 2023, Police Report

The first month of the New Year 2023, Milwaukee police reported at least 13 non-fatal shootings involving 3 female victims and 10 male victims, also there were at least three homicides involving 2 females and 1 male victim as of January 29.

Milwaukee, Wisconsin - On Thursday, January 26, 2023, at around 8:00 p.m., Milwaukee police responded to shots fired at the 2100 block of S. 15th Street. When they arrived, they found Jeanette Jimenez, 59, with fatal gunshots wounds and was pronounced deceased at the scene. Police are looking for a suspect(s) in the homicide.

On Wednesday, January 25, 2023, at around 9:02 a.m., police responded to shots fired at the 700 block of W. Becher St. and found a 27-year-old man injured. He was conveyed to a local hospital for treatment for non-fatal injuries.

Also on Wednesday, January 25, 2023 at around 2:30 a.m., police say a 53-year-old man was shot at the 1500 block of W. Washington St. The victim drove himself to a local hospital for treatment of a non-fatal gunshot wounds.

On Sunday, January 22, 2023, at around 4:56 p.m., police responded to the 1800 block of Grant Street and found a 35-year-old female and a 16-year-old female suffering with non-fatal gunshot wounds. The 35-year-old woman was conveyed to a local hospital for treatment and the 16-year-old victim refused treatment.

On Saturday, January 21, 2023, at around 3:32 a.m., police responded to the 3400 block of W. National Ave. and found a 33-year-old male with non-fatal gunshot wounds. The victim was conveyed to a local hospital for treatment.

On Friday, January 13, 2023, at around 4:45 p.m., a 33-year-old man was shot during an argument. The victim arrived at a local hospital for treatment of non-fatal injuries, according to police.

On Tuesday, January 10, 2023, at around 2:00 p.m., a 27-year-old man was shot at 2700 block of S. 16th Street and he arrived at a local hospital for non-fatal gunshot injuries, police reported.

On Monday, January 9, 2023, at around 11:18 p.m., a 47-year-old man was shot at the 2400 block of S. 8th St. The victim was conveyed to a local hospital fir non-fatal gunshot wounds.

On Sunday, January 8, 2023 at around 11:50 p.m., police responded to the 1000 block of S. 3rd Street and found a 20-year-old Neimah Jones fatally shot. Police arrested a 22-year-old man for obstruction in the domestic violence dispute incident and charges are pending. 

The Milwaukee County Medical Examiner's Office is investigating Jones fatal shooting as a possible suicide and police have an ongoing shooting investigation related to an alleged domestic violence dispute incident.

On Sunday, January 8, 2023 at around 1:39 p.m., police responded to the 3800 block of W. Morgan Ave. and found Rigoberto De la Torre, 20, shot. The victim succumbed to his injuries at the scene. The homicide investigation is ongoing.

On January 7, 2023, at around 5:00 a.m., police say a 42-year-old man was shot at the 1600 block of W. Greenfield Ave. and he arrived at a local hospital for non-fatal gunshot injuries.

On Wednesday, January 4, 2023 at around 7:50 p.m. a 33-year-old man from Oak Creek was shot at the 2100 block of W. Maple St.

After the shooting, the victim arrived at a local hospital with non-fatal injuries seeking treatment. Police are investigating the circumstances leading to the shooting incident.

On Sunday, January 1, 2023, at around 5:55 a.m., police reported that a 33-year-old man was critically injured by gunfire at the 1600 block of W. Grant Street and was conveyed to a local hospital for life-threatening injuries.

On Sunday, January 1, 2023, at around 2:48 a.m., a 27-year-old female sustained a non-fatal gunshot and a 26-year-old man sustained a non-fatal gunshot wound at the 600 block of S. 5th Street and both injured victims were conveyed to a local hospital for treatment.
