37-year-old Travis Jung, Off-duty MPD Detective Facing 4th-Degree Sexaul Assault Charges, In Separate Incident, Second Off-duty Officer Arrested For Armed Battery

Jung was taken into custody on early Thursday near the Black Swan in the Third Ward after sexually assaulting a woman by groping her buttocks and vagina area without consent while inside the police recreation league gala venue. Another off-duty police officer was arrested in a separate incident on Wednesday for armed battery, according to the Milwaukee Police Department.

Milwaukee, Wisconsin - On early Thursday, Travis Jung, 37, an off-duty Milwaukee Police Detective was taken into custody near the Black Swan MKE in the Third Ward District after a woman who was at the Black Swan attending a police recreation league gala allegedly complained that Jung groped her buttocks and vagina without her consent. Jung left the venue and was arrested outside of the venue at the 300 block of N. Water Street.

Jung is facing a Class A misdemeanor charge for 4th-degree sexaul assault. If convicted, Jung is facing up to 9-months in jail and up to $10,000 in fines.

According to the woman, she felt a slap in her buttocks and then felt Jung's hand go under her clothes and touch her vagina area.

The Milwaukee Police Department (MPD) confirmed that Jung has been in the department for 15 years.

Jung was booked in the Milwaukee County jail and later released on a $250.00 cash bond and has been fully suspended from the MPD until the outcome of the criminal case. The MPD is also conducting an internal investigation.

In an unrelated incident, off-duty Milwaukee Police Officer Rodney Albernathy Jr., 29, was taken into custody on Wednesday, January 18, 2023 around 10:00 p.m. at the 3700 block of W. Miller Lane for armed battery, but was not booked at the Milwaukee County jail and is pending charges. Albernathy Jr. was placed on administrative duties. He has been in the MPD for five years.
