WI State Assembly Representative Sylvia Ortiz-Velez (D-Milw) And State Senator Robert W. Wirch (D-Somers) Voted In Favor Of Governor Tony Evers Fair Maps, A Majority Of Democrats In Both Chambers Voted No

Wisconsin Governor Evers (D) makes history by signing GOP legislative maps approved by the governor ending the Gerrymandering practice in the State, only one Democrat in the State Assembly, Rep. Ortiz-Velez and Wirch, a Democrat in the State Senate voted to approve the fair legislative maps, according to the vote count in the State Assembly and State Senate.

Madison, Wisconsin - On Monday, Wisconsin Governor Tony Evers (D) signed into law the fair legislative maps by the State Republican controlled legislature ending the Gerrymandering practice in the State. The unfair Gerrymandering maps were first approved in 2011 giving State Republicans control of the State legislature for more than a decade.

Only one Democrat, State Representative Sylvia Ortiz-Velez from Milwaukee voted in favor of the fair maps, three State Assembly Representatives, Marisabel Cabrera (D-9), Gae Leila Magnafici (R-28) and Jon Plumer (R-42) were recorded absent from the most important vote in State history regarding fair legislative maps. The rest of the Democrats in the State Assembly voted "No", while the majority of Republicans voted "Yes" to approve the fair maps.

State Assembly Representative Cabrera (D-9) from the predominately Hispanic District in the Southside of Milwaukee failed to appear for the fair legislative maps vote. It's a shame that she missed that historic vote and failed to represent her Assembly District 9. Cabrera is a candidate for Milwaukee County Circuit Judge for Branch 43.

Only one Democrat in the State Senate, Sen. Robert W. Wirch (D-22) voted in favor of the GOP fair legislative maps, while the majority of State Democrat Senators voted "No", the majority of Republicans in the State Senate voted "Yes".

History will show, that the majority of Democrats in both the State Assembly and State Senate failed to support Governor Evers fair legislative maps, in this case, the majority of Republicans in both chambers approved the fair maps ending the Gerrymandering practice in the State including one Latina Democrat in the State Assembly and one Democrat in the State Senate.

The majority of Democrats who voted against Governor Evers' fair legislative maps in both chambers failed their own constituency to be fairly represented in the State legislature.
