Padilla, who is homeless was charged for stabbing a hospital security guard multiple times after waking him up at a parking lot structure.

Milwaukee, Wisconsin - 18-year-old Edgar J. Padilla Jr., a homeless man was criminally charged on January 31, 2024 with attempted 1st-degree attempted intentional homicide including use of a dangerous weapon for the January 29, 2024 stabbing of a 47-year-old Ascension Columbia St. Mary's Hospital security guard at the ER Department's bathroom. The security guard was stabbed in the head and back by Padilla. Padilla was taken into custody and the security guard was treated for multiple stab wounds.
If convicted, Padilla is facing up to 60 years in prison. A $50,000 cash bail was set for Padilla.
Padilla is scheduled for a preliminary hearing on February 8th.
According to the criminal complaint, Padilla told police that he was homeless and had been sleeping at the hospital's parking structure for days when he was awaken by the 47-year-old hospital security guard and was told to leave the parking structure at the 2300 N.

Afterwards around 6:00 a.m. on January 29th, when Padilla saw the security guard at the ER Department's bathroom, he began to assault the security guard by stabbing him multiple times. Padilla admitted to police, that he was mad that the guard because he had awaken him earlier at the parking lot structure.
