Racine, WI - On Saturday afternoon, fire department rescue teams were called around 1:00 p.m. to help bring down at least 17 people, mostly children from a stuck ferris wheel. The incident happened during the yearly outdoor party on the Pavement in Racine's downtown.
Firefighters had to first bring in dirt movers to help stabilize the ferris wheel. It took more than two hours to bring down the children in ladders and mechanical lifts.
The ferris wheel operators said a pin fell off one of the gears and it automatically stopped working. City officials were investigating the mishap and no one was reported injured.
