Miacatlán, Morelos, Mexico - On Tuesday, the infamous Edgar Jiménez Lugo, 14, aka, "El Ponchis," also known as the child executioner for the South Pacific Cartel (SPC) was convicted and sentenced to three years detention in the Mexican juvenile justice system, according to José Manuel Serrano, prosecutor for the Morelos State Unitary Tribunal for Juveniles (UTJ). Serrano in a press release stated, that was convicted multiple counts of organized crime delinquency, four homicides, kidnapping, illegal possession of military weapons and drugs (marijuana and cocaine).
About 40 witnesses had testified during the week long close-door trial that left the public and media from attending the proceedings. The state of Morelos or the federal Mexican government don't have stiffer sentences for children who commit felony crimes.
Lugo admitted of being a U.S. Citizen. He was born in San Diego, California and was being raised by his grandmother while in Mexico. His mother, Yolanda Jiménez Lugo was taken into custody for illegal re-entry into the U.S. in San Diego by U.S. Border Patrol shortly after El Ponchis arrest.
On December 2, he was taken into custody at the Mariano Matamoros Airport in Cuernavaca, Morelos by the Mexican military while boarding a flight to Tijuana along with one of his sisters. Elizabeth Jiménez Lugo, 19, and Lina Éricka Jiménez Lugo, 23, were also taken into custody.
Military police found two weapons, including a semi-automatic 9mm handgun on Lugo's luggage, small bags of cocaine and marijuana were found on Lugo and cell phones with photos of his victims while being tortured and killed, according to the preliminary arrest report.
El Ponchis and his sisters resided in Tejalpa, within the municipality of Jiutepec. He worked under Jusús Radilla Hernández or Julio Jesús Padilla Hernández, aka, "E Negro," leader of the SPC who is wanted by the Mexican government. One of Lugo's sister was expecting a child from El Negro.
Lugo gained notoriety after posting videos torturing and cutting the throats of some of his victims on the Internet.

Miacatlán, Morelos, Mexico - On Monday, the infamous Edgar Jiménez Lugo, 14, aka, "El Ponchis," also known as the child executioner for the South Pacific Cartel (SPC) went on trial in the Mexican juvenile justice system. Lugo admitted, he was born in San Diego, California and was being raised by his grandmother in Mexico. The U.S. State Department hasn't released a statement confirming Lugo as a U.S. Citizen. He is charged in the state of Morelos with multiple murders, torture, kidnappings, crimes against the public health, possession of cocaine, including marijuana, possession of weapons reserved for the military only, and decapitations while he worked for the cartel.
The trial will take between a week to several weeks and at least 60 witnesses are scheduled to take the stand, according to Juan Carlos Castro, spokesperson for the Morelos State Unitary Tribunal for Juveniles (UTJ).

Two of Lugo's sisters, Elizabeth Jiménez Lugo, 19, and Lina Éricka Jiménez Lugo, 23, were also taken into custody. Lugo and one of his sisters were trying to flee into the U.S. by crossing into San Diego from Tijuana. El Ponchis alleged mother, Yolanda Jiménez Lugo who lived in San Diego was taken into custody by the U.S. Border Patrol shortly after he was arrest. Her husband, Gabriel Manuel Aguirre was arrested along with Yolanda. She has two children with Aguirre.
In 1997, Yolanda was convicted on one count for possession and intent to distribute cocaine. She served 90 days in jail and was given three years probation, but was deported, according to court records in San Diego County.
El Ponchis and his sisters resided in Tejalpa, within the municipality of Jiutepec. He worked under Jusús Radilla Hernández or Julio Jesús Padilla Hernández, aka, "E Negro," leader of the SPC who is wanted by the Mexican government. One of Lugo's sister is expecting a child from El Negro.
El Ponchis confessed to killing at least four people in Cuernavaca and hanging some of the corpses in a local bridge. He told authorities that he was kidnapped at the age of 11, then was forced to take drugs and threaten to be killed by El Negro, if he didn't torture, killed and decapitate his victims, according to the criminal complaint.
The trial is taking place behind closed doors and numerous witnesses, including investigators are expected to testify against Lugo. The trial has been closed to the media and public due to security reasons, according to Ana Virginia Pérez, Chief Magistrate Justice for the UTJ.
If convicted, Lugo is facing up to five years in juvenile detention. Mexico has no severe federal penalties for juveniles accused of felony murder and other serious crimes.

Child cartel executioner won't be waived as an adult by Mexican feds and U.S. State Department confirmed El Ponchis is a U.S. Citizen.

Cuernavaca, Morelos, Mexico - On Sunday, the Mexican Attorney General's Office (PGR) decided not to waive Edgar Jiménez Lugo, 14, aka, "El Ponchis" or " El Choky" as an adult. Lugo confessed to killing at least four victims by beating, cutting their throats ending in decapitations, while he was on drugs. He admitted to being a member of the South Pacific Cartel (SPC) since he was 11-years-old.
Lugo's gang of adolescents ages 12 to 23 had posted videos and images while armed with AK-47's. The videos showed the victims being beaten and killed by Lugo on social Internet networks.
Lugo will be prosecuted in a Morelos juvenile state court. If convicted, Lugo is facing a maximum sentence of three years in a juvenile detention facility, according to the PGR.
Last Thursday, Lugo and his sister, Elizabeth, 19, were arrested while trying to board a flight to Tijuana in Cuernavaca. Lina Éricka, 23, his older sister was arrested outside in a car. She had just dropped them off at the airport.
Military police found two handguns including a 9mm semi-automatic in their luggage. They also found small bags of cocaine and marijuana on Lugo, Two cell phones in possession of Lugo and Elizabeth had images of the tortured victims, according to the criminal complaint.
On Monday, both Elizabeth and Lina Éricka were ordered held for the next 30 days by the Federal Public Ministry to allow prosecutors to built their case against them. The PGR says, they are accused of kidnappings, organized crime and crimes against the public health.
Lugo and his sister Elizabeth were trying to board a flight on Thursday at the Mariano Matamoros Airport in Cuernavaca headed to Tijuana, when they were detained by members of the 24th Regional Mexican military. They were intending to cross into the U.S. to avoid prosecution by the mexican government after arriving in Tijuana. They had planned to stay and hide at their stepmother's residence. The stepmother had sent them money to leave Morelos, according to Lugo.
Lugo's mother, Yolanda Jiménez Lugo in San Diego was taken into custody on Monday after 8:00 p.m. by the U.S. Border Patrol. Yolanda confirmed she was undocumented and had been deported in 1997 and later returned to the U.S., according to the U.S. Border Patrol. Her husband, Gabriel Manuel Aguirre was arrested along with Yolanda. She has two children with Aguirre.

Lugo and Elizabeth were born in San Diego, California. Lina Éricka was born in Jiutepec, Mexico. Elizabeth told authorities that their parents still lived in San Diego. Lugo's U.S. Citizenship has been confirmed by the U.S. State Department and will be afforded assistance as required for any American arrested in a foreign country facing a criminal charge.
Several bodies hanging under a bridge were discovered more than two months ago under the Cuernavaca-Mexico bridge.
Lugo became the second most wanted killer in Mexico after posting videos of him executing his victims on the Internet.
Lugo evaded capture several times, once on October 29, when the military raided a home in Tejalpa and six members of the SPC were taken into custody. A teenager, Cristian Martinez, aka, "El Cris" also arrested told authorities that Lugo, aka, "El Ponchis" was the paid executioner for the SPC who was responsible for killing rival gang members.
On November 11, Lugo was almost arrested, but evaded arrest when the military was able to raid a home where Radilla's girlfriend was detained.

Child executioner a U.S. Citizen born in San Diego

Cuernavaca, Morelos, Mexico - On Friday, the Mexican Secretary of Defense (Sedena) announced the arrest of Edgar Jiménez Lugo, 14, aka, "El Ponchis" along with two of his sisters, ages 19 and 23, aka, "Las Chabelas" yesterday. Lugo and his sister Elizabeth, 19, were trying to board a flight at the Mariano Matamoros Airport in Cuernavaca headed to Tijuana, when they were detained by members of the 24th Regional Mexican military. They were intending to cross into the U.S. after arriving in Tijuana, according to mexican authorities.
Lugo was previously believed to be 12-years-old, but turned out to be 14. He was wanted in connection for multiple homicides that included slashing the throats of victims after beating them while their hands were tied behind their backs, including bandaging their eyes and mouths shut with taped before decapitating some of them in state of Morelos. One of his sisters is not involved with the homicides or discarding bodies, authorities say.
An anonymous tip led to the arrest of Lugo just after 9:00 p.m. on Thursday at the airport. He was actually using his real name at the time of arrest and told authorities his stepmother had sent money for both him and one of his sisters to travel to Tijuana.
Authorities confiscated two cell phones and both phones had images of victims being tortured and killed. They also found a concealed handgun on Lugo, according to news reports, but could not be confirmed.
Lugo was born in San Diego, California and Elizabeth told authorities that their mother still lives in San Diego. Lugo's U.S. Citizenship hasn't been confirmed by the U.S. government.
Lugo told reporters outside a campound, that he was kidnapped by members of the South Pacific Cartel (Cartel Pacifico del Sur-CPS) when he was only 11 years old and then he was forced to kill rival members of the cartel. "I had to kill them by cutting their throats or the CPS would kill me, if I wouldn't do it. El Negro (the CPS leader) made me smoke marijuana before killing the victims. I was never part of discarding the bodies or hanging them under bridges," Lugo explained. Lugo says, he was paid with $2,500 U.S. dollars or with Mexican pesos for killing rival cartel members.
When asked by a reporter, if he knew what is about to happen to him? He told reporters that he understood the process of now being prosecuted for his alleged crimes resulting in multiple homicides, during an outdoor press conference by Sedena and the Morelos Attorney General's Office (PGR). Lugo showed signs of being beaten. He had two swollen lumps on his forehead, including an upper swollen lip that he kept licking several times while he was interviewed outdoors in a dark side of a brick wall. He was later turned over to the Federal Ministry Police to transport him to the federal attorney general's office in Mexico, D.F.
