Several Duelo Tejano Band Members Recovering In Texas After Road Rollover Accident Between Monterrey And Reynosa In Mexico

At least two Duelo band members and two staff members traveling in an SUV were reported injured including two suffering severe injuries sustained after their vehicle lost control and rolled over on the Mexican highway between Monterrey and Reynosa.

Roma, Texas - On Wednesday, Óscar Iván Treviño, the lead singer for the Tejano Group Duelo from Roma confirmed that two seriously injured band members, Iván Manuel Torres Rodríguez, the drummer who suffered injuries including damage to four vertebrates and had surgery on last Sunday is now on stable condition and recovering at home. http://tinyurl.com/4t6c3x5n

Also, bassist Pedro Ignacio Flores Areguillin suffered injuries to his left shoulder and is on stable condition recovering at home in Monterrey, Nuevo Leon.

Mexican first responders at the rollover scene had to use jaws for life equipment to extract both Torre and Flores from the totaled SUV.

Two Duelo staff members were also reported injured, but did not suffered critical injuries, they were identified as Alberto Ángel Meza Ibarra, 50, and Tanía López Hernández, 26. 

On Sunday, February 18, 2024, around 4:00 a.m., members of the Tejano Group Duelo were headed back to Texas after a two-day presentation at the Monterrey Arena when their vehicle (SUV) lost control and rolled over on the Mexican highway between Monterrey and Reynosa.

The injured band members were transported to the Juárez General Hospital for treatment.

The Grupo Duelo were headed to San Antonio, Texas to perform at the San Antonio Stock Show and Rodeo for the Noche del Vaquero show on Sunday, which their performance was canceled due to an accident on the road. La Mafia, another Tejano band filled in Duelo's performance spot on stage in San Antonio, according to the San Antonio Stock and Rodeo Show organizers.

Duelo is expected to perform at Smiley's Nightclub on March 1st in Waco and March 2 at the Besame Mucho Festival in Austin, according to Duelo's Facebook page.
