Two Suspects Sought For Kidnapping And Sexual Assault Of A Johnson County Female Deputy

A Johnson County deputy was kidnapped and then sexually assaulted by two suspects.

Olathe, Kansas - The Johnson County Sheriff's Office (JCSO) reported that a female deputy was kidnapped and then sexually assaulted on Friday by several White males. According the JCSO, an off-duty female deputy while going to work around 11:30 p.m. had just parked her vehicle in the parking lot of the JCSO Adult Detention Center and was walking to the Central Booking building when a White male forced her against her will into a vehicle and drove off. The female deputy later escaped at 1:30 a.m. and told authorities that two male suspects who she did not know were involved in her kidnapping and sexual assault.

The female deputy was taken to a local hospital for treatment and was released on Saturday, according to the JCSO.

The JCSO released a photo of a dark blue four door Mazda involved and is asking for the public to help identify the vehicle and the alleged suspects.

Two Palm Springs Police Officers Slained While Responding To Domestic Call

Several Palm Springs police officers were killed after a suspect open fire while they responded to a domestic disturbance call.

Palm Springs, CA - On Saturday, the Palm Springs Police Department  (PSPD) confirmed that both Police Officers Lesley Zerebny, 27, and Jose Gil Vega, 63, were killed by gunfire when a suspect open fire while they were responding just after midday to a home domestic disturbance call. A suspect was involved in an argument with family members when police were called to the scene.

As both officers arrived at the home and were by the door talking to the suspect, the he then opened fire with a handgun wounding the officers. A third officer was wounded in the crossfire.

Officers Vega and Zerebny were pronounced dead at the Desert Regional Medical Center. The known murder suspect who suffers from a mental illness is being sought by police and has not been identified.

Officer Vega was a 35-year Veteran at SPPD and is survived by his wife and eight children. Officer Zerebny had been working at the SPPD for a year and six months and is survived by a 4-month-old daughter and husband.

Update: The Riverside County Sheriff's Office released the following information, after a lengthy standoff, the suspect surrendered peacefully to Riverside County Sheriff's Department SWAT members and was taken into custody. The suspect has been identified as 26-year-old, Palm Springs resident, John Felix. Felix received non-life threatening injuries during this incident and was treated at a local hospital. Felix will be booked into the Robert Presley Detention Center, located in the city of Riverside, on two counts of murder on a peace officer.

On Point Security Guard Stomped On Iowa Protester While On DAPL Site

Recorded video showed a security guard kicking and stomping on a DAPL protesters while he was facing down and being detained by other guards on the muddy ground.

Sandusky, Iowa - On Friday, Unicorn Riot reported that 6 Dakota Access Pipeline (DAPL) protesters including a Unicorn Riot reporter were taken into custody after a break in into a DAPL drilling site near the Mississippi, River. The DAPL operation at the site is drilling under the Mississippi River in Lee County, according to protesters (Water Protectors). Some of the protesters locked themselves to drilling equipment and temporarily stopped the operation.

One of the security guards from On-Point Security Group, LLC (OPSG) who wore head gear to cover his face kicked and stomped on one of the protesters held at the drilling site and the incident was video recorded. OPSG released a statement saying, that they are investigating the incident and that there "will be corrective action for this gentleman's action." 

The Lee County Sheriff's Office has not released any statement whether they are investigating the assault of a DAPL protester by a OPSG guard. OPSG has not identified the guard accused of stomping a protester in the incident.

Unicorn Riot, an independent news source released the video showing the guard assaulting the protester and confirmed that one of their reporters had been arrested with five other DAPL protesters.

In other news concerning DAPL protests, the Morton County Sheriff's Office in Mandan, N. Dakota announced that the Dane County Sheriff's Office from Madison, Wisconsin and other law enforcement agencies will be sending at least 40 deputies and officers to reinforce action necessary to contain protests by Native Americans against DAPL who are found to be trespassing on private property and attempting to stop DAPL construction. The Morton Sheriff's Office deputies and other law enforcement officers are equipped with full riot gear and specialized weapons, which the DAPL protesters say is not necessary because they hold peaceful protests including ceremonial prayer gatherings at DAPL construction sites and the Native Americans defending the water are not armed with weapons, but with feathers, according to Kandi Mosset, from New Town who spoke at the Bismarck-Mandan Unitarian Universalist Fellowship and Church Teach-in of the Dakota Access Pipeline gathering on Friday.

The water protectors and more than 500 tribes around the U.S. have united in solidarity with the Standing Rock Sioux Tribe in stopping the DAPL pipe line construction from crossing the Mississippi River in fear of an anticipated oil spillage once it begins to pump more than a half million gallons of crude oil through Indian sacred burial grounds and fresh water river.

The Morton County Sheriff's Office released the following statement,  Law enforcement assistance is coming from Wisconsin to aid North Dakota law enforcement responding to the DAPL protest. Up to 40 sworn sheriffs' deputies from Dane County Sheriff's Office, Wisconsin and the surrounding region will be arriving to support Morton County. "Dane County's experience with large-scale demonstrations will allow for their seamless integration with our current mission of ensuring the safety and security in Morton County. The additional deputies will provide the manpower needed to respond to multiple protest locations. This ultimately enhances our ability to provide a consistently strong law enforcement presence for all the people of Morton County," said Morton County Sheriff Kyle Kirchmeier.

Hit-and-run Driver Arrested After Crashing Into Flag Poles, Tent And Teepee At Sacred Stone Camp

Bureau of Indian Afairs officer, Sioux County authorities and Morton County Sheriff depuites arrested an alleged hit-and-run driver who sped and then crashed inside the Sacred Stone Camp.

Fort Yates, N. Dakota - On Friday, the Sacred Stone (Oceti Sakowin) Camp reported that a male suspect driving a vehicle was taken into custody just before 1:00 a.m. by camp security after he crashed into some flag poles, a tent and a teepee. Apparently, the suspect who was identified as Bryce Ironhawk, 24, was speeding up to 113 mph, while being pursued by law enforcement officers from the Bureau of Indian Affairs (BIA), Sioux County and Morton County deputies for an alleged hit-and-run in near Mandan. One person was reported injured at the camp and was taken to a local hospital for treatment of none-life threatening injury.

The suspect's vehicle was towed after sustaining damage from the crash and several smashed windshields from security taking the suspect out of the vehicle. The reluctant suspect had locked his car doors and had refused to exit the vehicle. The driver is suspected of operating a stolen vehicle under the influence. The vehicle was reported stolen from Eide Ford in Mandan, according to the Morton County Sheriff's Office.
Ironhawk is facing charges for reckless driving, auto theft and driving under the influence.

In an unrelated incident, a suspected gas explosion was reported on Thursday at a 2-unit duplex building at the Pine Ridge Indian Reservation in S. Dakota. A gas leak was reported by the tenants before the explosion occurred. 

Three victims have died and one victim was reported injured, according to the Oglala Sioux Tribe.

Update: Bryce Ironhawk has pleaded guilty on Friday, for reckless driving, speeding, OUI and had a blood alcohol content of .17, twice the legal limit of alcohol, according to the Morton County Sheriff's Office.

Hector Lozornio Facing Life In Prison For Multiple 1st-degree Sexual Assault Of A Child Convictions

Milwaukee, WI - On Wednesday, Milwaukee County Circuit Court Judge Stephanie Rothstien reaffirmed judgement of convictions against Hector Lozornio, 41, which a jury found guilty on two counts for 1st-degree sexual assault of child under 13 (facing 60 years in prison for each count), one count for 1st-degree sexual assault of a child under 12 (facing 60 years in prison), four counts for bail jumping (facing 6 years and up to $10K in fines for each count) and three counts for intimidating a witness (facing 10 years in prison and up to $25K), all felony counts. Lozornio is facing up to 216 years in prison and up to $65K in fines when he is sentenced. A sentencing hearing has been set for January 5, 2017. 
The U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) placed a hold on Lozornio as a result of two convictions for 4th-degree sexual assault conviction in 2001. He will be deported to Mexico after completing his sentences. Lozornio is facing up to life in prison for his 10 count felony convictions including three counts for sexual assault of a child under 13.
Lozornio had three prior felony child sexual assault charges, but were dismissed on June 8, 2015 and the charges were revised and reinstated on June 14, 2015 with additional charges, according to court records.
Court records show, that Lozornio pled no contest to two misdemeanor counts for 4th-degree sexual assault on December 18, 2001.
The recent criminal complaint states, that Lozornio agreed to take a lie detector test (polygraph exam) about the child molestation and sexual contact allegations filed against him and apparently he failed the test. He also attempted to coerce three witnesses from testifying in court.

LASD Sgt. Steven Owen Died From Injuries Sustained In Burglary

Suspect taken into custody after being shot by LASD deputies.

Los Angeles, CA - On Wednesday, Sergeant Steven Owen, 53, a 29-year Veteran of the Los Angeles Sheriff's Department (LASD) was reported killed while investigating a home burglary in the suburb of Lancaster, according to the LASD. A press release states that Sgt. Owen succumbed to injuries when he was shot by a burglary suspect running from an apartment building.

The 27-year-old suspect was able to get control of Sgt. Owen's patrol vehicle and rammed it at a second patrol vehicle, which another deputy was responding to the scene. The suspect fled and later entered a nearby home where two teenagers were inside. 

A LASD SWAT unit responded and entered the home as the suspect exited through the rear of the home and jumped over a wall. Several deputies fired their weapons and the suspect was struck in the upper torso and was taken to a local hospital for medical treatment.

The suspect is described as an Afro-American male who was recently paroled. A weapon was recovered from the suspect. Sgt. Owen died from his injuries at a local hospital.

Treneel V. Bankston Charged With Felony Homicide For Carmelo Silva Jr.'s Death

Milwaukee police arrested injured 21-year-old suspect about three blocks from where an 18-year-old victim died after a shooting and sword stabbing alteration during a drug deal gone bad.

Milwaukee, WI - On Wednesday, Treneel V. Bankston, 21, was booked at the Milwaukee County jail for homicide in connection with the death of Carmelo Silva Jr., 18, on October 1 near the 2400 block of W. Becher St. According to the criminal complaint, Bankston had gone with Silva Jr. and another man to buy marijuana where Silva Jr. stayed. Bankston during the drug transaction took out a handgun and attempted to rob Silva Jr. and others at the residence. An altercation began and the weapon discharged striking Silva Jr. who left the residence injured and ended up at a corner store and asked for help. 

Carmelo Silva Sr. told police that he began to struggle with Bankston and was injured with a sword and Bankston was stabbed in the abdomen as well. Another 18-year-old victim also struggled with Bankston and got shot in the shoulder and face when the weapon discharged.  Both Silva Sr. and the 18-year-old victim survived.

Silva Jr. died at the corner store after attempts by police and emergency responders to save him failed.

Bankston was taken into custody shortly after the incident when a tip led police to locate him about three blocks away from the crime scene, according to the criminal complaint.

Bankston is expected to appear in court on Thursday to face homicide charges. He is being held on $200,377 cash bond.

Bankston was convicted of a misdemeanor count for battery in 2014.
