Milwaukee, WI - On Saturday, Ruben Casarez Jr., 24, was charged with two felonies for attempted 1st-degree intentional homicide and 1st-degree reckless injury and two misdemeanors for violating a domestic abuse injunction and bail jumping in connection with the stabbing incident of his former girlfriend at the Milwaukee Area Technical College (MATC). Casarez had recently been released from prison and wanted to see his child who he had with his former girlfriend, Irene Johnson, 24. After several failed attempts to see his child, he began to confront Johnson who refused Casarez' requests to see his child.
Johnson told Casarez that she already had a boyfriend and wanted Casarez to leave her alone. Last Wednesday, in a desperate measure he went to MATC and attacked Johnson with a butcher knife inside an office, according to the criminal complaint.
Casarez stabbed Johnson multiple times and two MATC security officers who heard her screams coming from a locked office, broke down the door and took Casarez into custody.
A judge set a $100,000 cash bond for Casarez and if convicted on all counts, he is facing up to 100 years in prison, according to court records.

Milwaukee, WI - On Monday, the Milwaukee County District Attorney's Office confirmed that Erin M. Salmon, 23, of Milwaukee is facing two additional hit-and-run misdemeanor charges for crashing into two other vehicles in the Eastside after leaving the Landmark bar. Her boyfriend Walter M. Williams, 36, was taken into custody and is also facing two misdemeanor charges for intimidating by keeping the driver of a vehicle that Salmon hit from calling police to report the crash and disorderly conduct. She apparently also hit a second vehicle before getting into the freeway heading the wrong way on I-94 and crashing head-on into a third vehicle driven by an off-duty officer heading home.
A Milwaukee County judge in early September set a $5,000 cash bond for Salmon, who was charged with two felony counts for 2nd-degree reckless endangering safety and injury by intoxicated use of a vehicle. She is currently recovering at a hospital and is suffering from multiple injuries, including a broken ankle from a freeway crash caused by her while she was intoxicated, according to the criminal complaint.
Salmon is facing more than 22 years in prison, if convicted on all charges. Salmon is expected to make her first court appearance on October 9th.
On September 5, off-duty Milwaukee Police Officer Joshua Albert, 31, was injured when Salmon crashed into Albert on I-94. Officer Albert had just finished his shift and was heading home after midnight along I-94 near the 35th Street exit when Salmon going the wrong way on the freeway without headlights struck Albert's vehicle head-on.
Salmon and Albert were critically injured in the crash. Emergency crews had to use Jaws of Life to extract both victims from their mangled vehicles at the scene. They were taken to Froedtert Hospital where they continue to recover, according to Milwaukee Police.
The Milwaukee County Sheriff's Office reported that so far, there have been at least 21 wrong way accidents in the county freeway system this year.

WI Attorney General To Appeal Judge Colas' Decision Declaring Portions Of Act 10 Unconstitutional

Portions of Act 10 provisions declared unconstitutional by Dane County Judge Juan Colas.

By H. Nelson Goodson
September 17, 2012

Madison, WI - On Saturday, Wisconsin Attorney General J.B. Van Hollen released a statement saying he will appeal Friday's decision by Dane County Circuit Court Branch 10, Judge Juan Colas that rendered parts of Act 10 unconstitutional. Judge Colas ruled that provisions, which eliminates most collective bargaining rights for local, county and school employees were unconstitutional. He upheld that Act 10 provisions limiting collective bargaining rights do apply for state employees only and not for local, county and school employees. The law violated their Constitutional right to free speech, free association and equal representation under the law, according to Colas' decision.
Following the decision by Judge Colas in the case of Madison Teachers, Inc., et al. v. Scott Walker, et al., which declared portions of Act 10 unconstitutional, Attorney General J.B. Van Hollen in a news release stated,  "We believe that Act 10 is constitutional in all respects and will be appealing this decision. We also will be seeking a stay of Friday's decision pending appeal in order to allow the law to continue in effect as it has for more than a year while the appellate courts address the legal issues."
Judge Colas would have to decide, if he would keep Act 10 in effect until the appeal process is resolved. The case could very well head to the state supreme court and could also end up in the U.S. Supreme Court because Judge Colas cited federal Constitutional violations.
The final decision could take months.

Benghazi, Libya - On Friday, the U.S. government preliminary investigation into the death of U.S. Ambassador J. Christopher Stevens on Tuesday indicates that he died of smoke inhalation. Witnesses have come forward to describe the last moments that Stevens endured at a safe-building. Apparently, Stevens had gone to a building to escape an attack by a mob of extremist Jihadists. He managed to hid in a nearby building when a fire spread to the area where he had been hiding. Shortly afterwards, a group of civilians believed to have been looting discovered Stevens in a room unconscious and they managed to get him out. They immediately took Stevens to a nearby hospital without initially knowing that he was an ambassador from the U.S.
Stevens was overcome by smoke, according to a doctor who unsuccessfully treated Stevens.
Three other Americans also died on Tuesday, they were identified as Sean Smith, a Foreign Service officer, including two former Navy SEALs, Tyrone A. Woods and Glen A. Doherty, both assigned to diplomatic security. Woods died attempting to provided aid and protection to Stevens.
A mob of extremist Jihadists on Tuesday attacked the U.S. Embassy with heavy caliber weapons and propelled grenade launchers overpowering Libyan security guards and government troops guarding the embassy. The mob of Jihadists were able to take control of the embassy.
The U.S. has sent troops to the Benghazi to take control of the embassy campound. The embassy was torched and a mob of looters took whatever they could carry from the embassy.
The Libyan government has apologized about the incident and had confirmed that four alleged suspects involved in the attack have been taken into custody. The mob was agitated because of a film that was made in the U.S. mocking Muhammad.
On the same day, extremist Islamic Jihadists Cairo, Egypt stormed the U.S. Embassy and took down the American flag and replaced with a black Islamic flag. No Americans were reported killed in Cairo.
The U.S. Embassy in Yemen and other embassies has been also attcked by Jihadists sympathetic to Al-Qaeda.

Dane County Judge Restricts Governor Walker's Collective Bargaining Law To State Employees

Judge Colas ruled that Governor Walker's bargaining law that eliminates most collective bargaining rights for local, county and school employees is unconstitutional.

By H. Nelson Goodson
September 14, 2012

Madison, Wisconsin - On Friday, Dane County Judge Juan Colas ruled that last year's passage of Governor Scott Walker's Act 10 law that eliminated most union collective bargaining rights was unconstitutional when it targeted local, county and school employees. Judge Colas' decision automatically returns all collective bargaining rights to those employees effected other than state workers. The law violated their Constitutional right to free speech, free association and equal representation under the law, according to Colas' decision.
State employees are only subject to Walker's bargaining law that restricts most collective bargaining rights under the state constitution, Judge Colas ruled.
Governor Walker plans to appeal Judge Colas ruling, which now became an upset for the Republican controlled legislature that passed it and a major victory for local, county and school employees. The case might very well end up in the state supreme court.
