Two Victims Ages 20 And 26 Shot At S. 26 St. And W. National Ave. On Early Friday In The Southside Of Milwaukee

2 victims ages 20 and 26 treated at local hospital for non-life threatening gunshot injuries.

Milwaukee, Wisconsin - On early Friday, March 1, 2024, Milwaukee police responded around 2:26 a.m. to a shooting just outside of the newly opened La Cueva Bar & Mexican Restaurant (Class B Tavern and Public Entertainment Premises) at the 2500 block of W. National Ave. in the Southside of Milwaukee. 

Police recovered at least 5 spent cartridges on S. 26 Street just South Of W. National Ave. next to the building where La Cueva Milwaukee opened.

Two Marshal Public Safety officers assigned to the corner gas station at S. 27 Street and W. National Ave. also responded to the shooting area before police arrived. A man and a woman in a black dress were seen leaving from the immediate shooting area and a vehicle as well.

La Cueva had closed around 2:00 a.m., which opened at 9:00 p.m. on Thursday night.

Police confirmed that two individuals ages 20 and 26 were reported injured by gunfire and were treated for non-life threatening injuries when they arrived at a local hospital shortly after the shooting. Medical staff called police and reported that two victims suffering from gunshot injuries walked into the hospital for treatment.

When police arrived at the shooting scene, the injured victims had already left the scene. No Milwaukee Fire Department first responders including paramedics were called to the shooting scene.

Police didn't say, if the shooting was connected to anyone patronizing or leaving La Cueva Bar and Restaurant.

The investigation is ongoing, according to police.
