Milwaukee, Wisconsin - On Thursday, Milwaukee police around 9:58 p.m.  responded to the 2400 block of W. Howard Ave. after a vehicle headed Westbound at a high rate of speed lost control with three occupants inside and crashed into a tree and a light pole. Milwaukee Fire Department first responders also arrived at the scene and two women were found critically injured.

Life saving measures were unsuccessful for both Gabby Pantoja, 24, the driver and Myaliz "Mya" Pérez, 24, the passenger who were pronounced deceased at the scene, according to the Milwaukee County Medical Examiner's Office.

One of the women was ejected about 20 feet on impact when the vehicle, a gray Camary struck a tree.

According to the preliminary investigation, Pérez, Pantoja and a third unidentified 24-year-old individual were out celebrating Pantoja's birthday.

The third occupant fled on foot from the fatal accident, but was later taken into custody at the 2800 block of S. 13 Street for unrelated charges.

Pantoja is survived by a young daughter and Pérez is survived by a 7-month-old baby son.

The fatal crash accident investigation is ongoing, according to police.
