Four Duplexes Engulfed In Flames, Three Structures Totaled In The Southside Of Milwaukee

A totaled of four duplexes went up in smoke after WI ds spread the flames, according to the Milwaukee Fire Department.

Milwaukee, Wisconsin - On Wednesday afternoon, the Milwaukee Fire Department (MFD) responded to multiple fire alarms and when they responded to the 1900 block of S. 19 Street in the Southside of Milwaukee, four duplexes were engulfed in flames. 

The MFD reported that three of the structures were totaled and a fourth was damaged due to the flames spreading by high winds. One of the structures had a gas leak as well.

No injuries were reported and the Red Cross helped at least six people who were displaced.

Update: On Thursday, April 13, 2023, the Milwaukee County Medical Examiner's Office reported that around 11:42 a.m., two Hispanic victims were found in the burned rubble of a duplex at 1917 S. 19 Street that burned on Wednesday along with three other structures. The victims were a 27-year-old woman and a 1-year-old girl.

Yesterday, the Milwaukee Fire Department reported two people were reported unaccounted for, and no injuries were reported.

At least 89 fire fighters, totaling 9 fire battalions  responded to the three-fire alarm.

The fire is still under investigation.

On Friday, April 14, 2023, Brandon King and his family, who lost everything when their home burned at S. 19th reported that their cat also died in the fire and are very devastated with the loss.
