Frank Gonzales, Mexican Fiesta Volunteer And WHSF Board Member Has Passed Away

Gonzales and his family were awarded the UMOS Family of the Year award in 2015.

Milwaukee, WI - On Monday, Frank R. Gonzales Jr., 84, passed away from cancer while accompanied by family members. Gonzales with help of his wife Nancy are best known for creating the Bruce Guadalupe Community School. Gonzales was a long time Mexican Fiesta volunteer and served in the Wiconsin Hispanic Scholarship Foundation, which operates Fiesta. He served as vice-chair and chair in the Milwaukee County Commission of the Aging from 2012 to 2014. Also, Gonzales served as a long time volunteer at the annual Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church festival.
Gonzales was the honorary parade marshal of the United Migrant Opportunity Services (UMOS) Mexican Independence Day Parade in 2015.
Alderman José G. Pérez from the 12th Aldermanic District released the following statement, "Frank was a longtime advocate, resident, and family man. He served the south side for 17 years as a commissioner on the Social Development Commission, and also served on the boards of the Bruce-Guadalupe Community School and the Walker's Point Development Corp. We also remember his dedicated efforts for many years in organizing our near south side 4th of July parade."

Funeral services for Frank R. Gonzales Jr.:

Visitation at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church, 613 S. 4th St. in Milwaukee on Saturday, April 29 beginning at 9 a.m. until time of Mass at noon.
