Fernando Andino, 19, And Jorge Medina, 18, Charged With 1st-degree Murder In The Homicide Of Stefan Filipovic, 24, In Waukegan

Filipovic died from a gunshot injury to the head.

Waukegan, Illinois - On Wednesday, both Fernando Andino, 19, and Jorge Medina, 18, appeared before Lake County Judge Theodore Potkonjak on 1st-degree murder charges for the May 29, 2022 homicide of Stehan Filipovic, 24, and shooting of another victim in his 20's. Judge Potkonjak set a $3,000,000 dollar bond for Andino and no bond was set for Medina, according to Lake County court records.

Andino was originally taken into custody on Sunday, May 29, 2022, after attempting to flee officers in a high-speed chase. Andino was charged with felony 1st-degree Murder, Aggravated Battery with a Firearm, and Aggravated Fleeing and Eluding.  

Medina was taken into custody Monday morning. Medina was charged with 1st-degree Murder, Attempted First-Degree Murder, and Aggravated Battery with a Firearm. 

If convicted on 1st-degree murder, both Andino and Medina are each facing from 20 years to life in prison, and between 2 to 5 years in prison and up to $25,000 each in fines for aggravated battery with a firearm.

According to the Lake County State's Attorney's Office in a press release, on late Tuesday evening, May 31, 2022, the Lake County State's Attorney's Office filed 1st-degree Murder charges against Andino and Medina in connection with a Waukegan shooting that took place at the adjacent Poppy's Restaurant parking lot at the 1500 block of Washington Street last Sunday. 

On Sunday, May 29, 2022, at approximately 4:51 p.m., Waukegan Police Officers responded to a report of persons shot near a restaurant parking lot. When officers arrived, they found Filipovic and another male victim with a gunshot wounds to their heads. Filipovic was pronounced dead at the scene and the other victim is still in the hospital and expected to recover from non-life-threatening injuries. 

Police recovered multiple 9mm Cal. spent casings at the crime scene.

Investigators retrieved multiple surveillance videos from nearby businesses and residences, including video of the shooting. Investigators determined Medina exited a vehicle driven by Andino near the restaurant and proceeded to walk toward the parking lot where he shot the victims. After he was dropped off, Andino waited for him on the corner of Washington Street and Washington Park as Medina walked towards the Poppy's Restaurant parking lot. After the shooting, Andino drove back around, picked up Medina, and left the scene. 

Andino told police that the shooting at the Poppy's Restaurant parking lot was the result of a retaliation because he thought that Filipovic was involved in an unsolved shooting of his friend last year.

"The Waukegan Police Department and our Violent Crimes Unit did a fantastic job in obtaining and analyzing the evidence. We will continue to devote extensive resources to gun violence, work aggressively with our law enforcement partners, and support the victim's families," said State's Attorney Eric Rinehart in a released statement.

The Henderson police in Nevada reported a highway shooting investigation that left 7 motorcycle club Vagos members and affiliates injured.

Henderson, Nevada - On May 29th, 2022, at about 11:50 A.M., the City of Henderson Police (HPD) and Fire Departments responded to a reported shooting that occurred on northbound US-95 Freeway at College Drive, according a press releaseby the HPD. 

The preliminarily investigation indicates that the involved subjects are all members or affiliates of rival Outlaw Motorcycle Gangs (OMG's), the Hells Angels Motorcycle Club (MC) and the Vagos MC. The HA's members were apparently waiting on the side of the highway waiting to ambush the Vagos and were video recorded by a witness who turned over the video to police. Also, cellphone GPS records indicated that Devries, Smith and Alo were in the area when the shooting incident occurred.

Officers arrived on scene to discover multiple subjects who had sustained gunshot wounds. Six Vagos MC members and club affiliates were transported to a local area hospital; two subjects were said to be in critical condition. A seventh subject arrived at a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries and was confirmed to be involved in the shooting. 

Investigators were able to identify three suspects involved as 66-year-old Richard Devries, the President of the Las Vegas Hells Angels (HA) Motorcycle Club chapter, and two HA MC prospects, 46-year-old Stephen Alo, and 26-year-old Russell Smith.

Devries, Alo, and Smith were taken into custody and booked into the Henderson Detention Center on the following felony charges: 

• 6 counts Attempt Murder with a Deadly Weapon (penalty between 2 to 20 years in prison upon conviction)

• 6 counts Battery with use of a Deadly Weapon causing Substantia Bodily Harm

(criminal gang enhancement) (penalty between 1 to 6 years in prison and up to $5,000 in fines for each count and 20 additional years in prison for gang enhancement charges)

▪︎ 6 counts Discharge Gun at/into Occupied Structure/Vehicle 

(criminal gang enhancement) (penalty between 1 to 6 years in prison and up to $5,000 in fines for each count and 20 additional years in prison for gang enhancement charges)

• 1 count Conspiracy to Commit Murder with Deadly Weapon (penalty between 2 to 10 years in prison and up to $5,000 in fines)

If convicted on all felony counts, Devries, Alo and Smith are facing life in prison.

According to police, US-95 from Boulder Highway to Horizon Drive and Horizon Drive from Pacific Avenue to the US-95 were closed in both directions for several hours while the investigation took place.  

The Henderson Police Department is the lead investigating agency for this incident although this incident took place within the jurisdiction of the Nevada State Police Highway Patrol, according to the HPD press release.

10-year-old Daniel Issac Marquez Charged For Making A Fake Written Threat To Conduct Mass Shooting At Patriot Elementary School In Cape Coral, FL

Cape Coral, Florida - On Monday, the Lee County Sheriff's Office (LCSO) in Florida released the booking photo of Daniel Issac Marquez, 10, who was taken into custody on Saturday and booked for making an alleged fake written threat to commit a mass shooting at his elementary school, according to the LCSO.

Making a written threat to conduct a mass shooting in Florida is considered a 2nd-degree felony with up to 15 years in prison, if convicted.

According to the LCSO press release, "This student's behavior is sickening, especially after the recent tragedy in Uvalde, Texas," stated Sheriff Carmine Marceno. "Making sure our children are safe is paramount. We will have law and order in our schools! My team didn't hesitate one second…NOT ONE SECOND, to investigate this threat."

On Saturday, May 28, 2022, the Lee County Sheriff's Office learned of a threatening text message sent by a fifth grade student at Patriot Elementary School in Cape Coral. 

The School Threat Enforcement Team was immediately notified and began analytical research. Due to the nature of the incident, the Youth Services Criminal Investigations Division assumed the case. 

Detectives interviewed the suspect, Daniel Issac Marquez (DOB 10/01/2011), and developed probable cause for his arrest. 

Marquez was charged with Making a Written Threat to Conduct a Mass Shooting.

"Right now is not the time to act like a little delinquent.  It's not funny.  This child made a fake threat, and now he's experiencing real consequences," stated Sheriff Carmine Marceno, according to the press release.

Texas Cowards With A Badge And Gun Who Stood By While 19 Students And 2 Robb Elementary School Teachers Were Massacred In Uvalde By A Lone 18-year-old Crazed Shooter

TX: Unfortunately, the Uvalde massacre on Tuesday, May 24, 2022 at the Robb Elementary School in which 19 students, mostly Mexican-Americans between the ages of 8 to 11 and two teachers were murdered by a lone 18-year-old domestic shooter from Uvalde showed the nation how 40 heavily armed law enforcement officers including Uvalde police officers and the Uvalde Consolidated Independent School District (CISD) police stood around for at least 45 minutes before a brave U.S. Border Patrol agent took it upon himself along with three other Border Patrol tactical agents to storm into the sieged elementary school where a lone armed gunman with a AR-15 rifle was barricated in a classroom and finally take out Salvador Rolando Ramos, 18, the crazed shooter.

Although some of the law enforcement officers helped get some school children out by breaking windows, even their own children attending the school within the 45 minutes others just stood by.

Many parents who arrived at the scene pleaded with law enforcement to storm the school and save the children to no avial. Heavily armed law enforcement officers just stood around and did nothing for at least 45 minutes, but instead turned against the parents by handcuffing a mother, tackling a father to the ground and macing others simply because they were criticizing police for doing nothing while school children were being killed inside the school.

These 40 heavily armed law enforcement officers that stood around and did nothing while Mexican-American children were being killed inside two adjacent 4th grade classrooms will be forever be remembered as poorly trained and prepared "Cowards with a Badge and Gun", who failed to follow the already established domestic school shooting protocol, to immediately storm into the school to saves lives.

Three police officers and 17 other victims were also reported injured with non-life-threatening injuries. 

Update: On Friday, Steve McGraw, Chief of the Texas Department of Public Works confirmed that Pete Arredondo, the Chief of Police of the Consolidated Independent School District Police in Uvalde treated the school shooting crisis as a barricated incident rather than an active shooter situation. Arredondo made a mistaken decision to withhold heavily armed law enforcement officers from storming into the school to neutralize the active shooter, according to McGraw who seemed to throw Arredondo under the bus and making it seemed that the majority of those armed law enforcement officers were just following orders, but in reality, they lacked any common sense and instead cowardly remained silent and did not challenge Arredondo's decision not to storm the school and save children.

Arredondo was elected to the Uvalde City Council three weeks ago with 70% of the vote, according to news reports. He will be sworn-in to the Council on Tuesday, May 31, 2022.

Uvalde, Texas - On Tuesday, at least 19 young students, 3 adults including two teachers and suspect were reported killed in a mass shooting at the Robb Elementary School in Uvalde, and the alleged shooter, Salvador Rolando Ramos, 18, is dead.

Three police officers struck by gunfire with non-life-threatening injuries.

Ramos allegedly shot his 66-year-old grandmother Cecilia Martinez Gonzalez in the face who was critically injured before crashing a vehicle near the school and being confronted by Uvalde CISD police in a shoot out and then going into the Robb Elementary School to commit mass murder. 

Ramos, a U.S. Citizen born in North Dakota who attended the Uvalde High School.

Ramos was fatally shot by a U.S. Border Patrol agent during an exchange of gunfire. The deceased suspect was wearing body armor, according to police. Other news outlets reported, that Ramos was wearing an armor body vest without ballistic plates.

A .223 Cal AR-15 rifle was recovered by police at the crime scene.

17 other victims were reported injured with non-life-threatening wounds.

16-year-old DeWayne Widmer Jr. Offered Plea Agreement For Less Juvenile Detention For The November 2021 Vehicular Homicide Of Giovanni Florentino, 16, In The Southside Of Milwaukee

Widmer Jr., a juvenile driver who was identified in social media in November 2021 after he fled from a Southside vehicle crash scene that he caused leaving his two passengers Giovanni Florentino, 16, to die from his injuries and Sebastián Florentino, 13, critically injured is expected to accept a plea agreement for less time in juvenile detention and extended supervision.

Milwaukee, Wisconsin - Next month, according to relatives of a deceased 16-year-old victim alleged that DeWayne Widmer Jr., 16, is expected to enter a guilty plea on June 6th to a delinquency petition for 2nd-degree reckless homicide and 1st-degree reckless injury in juvenile court for the November 2021 fatal vehicular crash that left Giovanni Florentino, 16, aka, Chucho deceased at the crash site located in the 3600 block of W. Lincoln Ave. in the Southside of Milwaukee.

According to the alleged plea agreement, Widmer Jr.'s additional charges will only be read on the record, simply because under a juvenile court delinquency adjudication, a juvenile can do a limited detention sentence and must be released, if not waived into adult court. In this case, Widmer Jr. will be facing up to 5 years in detention and can be released under extended supervision after just serving 1 year and 6 months in detention with good behavior when he gets sentenced in June.

The Florentino and Jiménez family are holding protests at the juvenile detention center hoping to persuade the juvenile court to charge Widmer as an adult, but it seems that Widmer will take a guilty plea to do less time for the homicide of 16-year-old Giovanni.

Police reported that on, November 12, 2021, around 8:16p.m., a stolen SUV with four individuals inside including a driver (identified as Widmer Jr. in social media) who was driving recklessly at 90 mph in a 30 mph speed limit heading eastbound at the 3600 block of W. Lincoln Ave. lost control and crashed into a tree. The SUV split in half on impact with a tree and both Giovanni and his brother, Sebastián, who were the rear seat passengers, were ejected from the SUV on impact. Giovanni suffered fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene. Sebastián suffered critical injuries and was hospitalized.

Police say that the SUV was reported stolen a day before the fatal crash and the driver of the stolen SUV and a front seat passenger who was the driver's cousin fled the crash scene leaving the Florentino brothers at the scene without rendering any aid.

Nely Jiménez, Giovanni's stepmother who is seeking justice for her stepson and her 13-year-old son Sebastián told Hispanic News Network U.S.A. (HNNUSA), that Widmer Jr.'s mother had picked up her son and his cousin after the fatal crash and helped them elude police until mid January when Widmer Jr. surrendered to police.

When Widmer Jr. was on the run for nearly several months, he posted videos and told his followers on social media that he didn't expect to get to much time in detention as a juvenile convicted of a crime, according to the Florentino family.

Widmer Jr.'s cousin was not charged in the fatal crash incident.

Last Friday morning, before Widmer's juvenile court hearing, the Florentino family and friends held an outdoor protest at the Milwaukee County Vel R. Phillips Juvenile Justice Center, 10201 W Watertown Plank Rd, seeking justice for Giovanni. They will also hold another protest to seek justice for Giovanni at the juvenile center on June 6.

Wisconsin Homicide Fugitive Terry L. Jackson Jr., 41, Arrested In Chicago By U.S. Marshals Service

Jackson Jr. was wanted for the murder of Brittany D. Booker of Racine.

Chicago, Illinois - On Sunday, the Racine Police Department in a press release announced in conjunction with the U.S. Marshals Service that Terry L. Jackson Jr., aka, "Scooter Man", 41, was taken into custody in Chicago on Sunday morning by the U.S. Marshals Service Regional Fugitive Task Force. Jackson was spotted by deputy Marshals in the window with a handgun, after a standoff, Jackson surrendered.

Jackson is expected to be extridited to Wisconsin to face 1st-degree intentional homicide, two felony counts for 1st-degree attempted homicide, 1st-degree reckless and endangering safety, substantial battery, kidnapping, false imprisonment, strangulation and suffocation, stalking, felon in possession of a firearm, bail jumping 12 counts, and intimidation of a victim.

If convicted on all counts, Jackson is facing multiple life sentences without the possibility of parole in Wisconsin.

Jackson was wanted in connection with the homicide of Brittany D. Booker, 30, in Racine, Wisconsin. According to the criminal complaint, Jackson on April 24, 2022 entered Booker's home and assault her in front of her children, then he forcibly removed her from the home and into her vehicle. Police later located the vehicle with Booker's body inside with a single gunshot to her head.

Three women were previously charged with harboring and aiding Jackson who is a convicted felon. Diamond Hood, 24, was arrested on April 26 and charged with harboring and aiding a felon. The two other women are Carmelita Walker, 34, and Alicia Sykes, 30, who were arrested on April 27 and charged with harboring and aiding a felon.

If convicted, Hood, Walker and Sykes are each facing up to 10 years in prison and up to $25,000 in fines.
