Tejano Singer Jimmy González, Founder Of El Grupo Mazz Passed Away In San Antonio

González died after being hospitalized with heart problems in San Antonio.

San Antonio, Texas - On Wednesday, Tejano singer Jimmy González, 67, originally from Brownsville, the founder of El Grupo Mazz died at around 9:57 a.m. at a San Antonio hospital, according Eloy Leija, the promotions managet from Freddie Records who González recorded his Tejano style songs and hits in the last 20 years with more than 36 years in the music career. González was suffering from medical issues.

An emergency first responders crew was dispatched to where González had a seizure and his heart had stopped. Emergency personnel were able to revived González and was taken to a hospital in San Antonio where he later passed away.
González's low blood sugar level on early Wednesday might have triggered heart failure.
The Gonzalez family released the following statement, "On behalf of The Gonzalez Family, we would like to thank everyone for their condolences and prayers. We do ask for privacy as we gather and mourn the loss of our beloved Jimmy Gonzalez.
"We would also like to ask that no one set up or donate to any Gofundme accounts as we have not authorized any at this time.
"Thank you for all of your thoughts and continued prayers."

In early February, González, the lead singer and 8 Time Grammy Award Winner for the Tejano style Grupo Mazz was also hospitalized after coming severely ill and was having a hard time breathing due to a bad case of the flu.

González was scheduled to perform at the Outta Town Dance Hall in Mission at a pre-Super Bowl Dance when he got sick with the flu. The management at the dance hall says that González became ill during the performance and could not perform as programmed. 

In 1998, both Joe Lopez and Jimmy González, the other co-founder Mazz split and two Tejano bands continued to perform Tejano style music venue as Jimmy González y Grupo Mazz and Joe Lopez y La Nueva Imagen Mazz. La Nueva Imagen Mazz band later phased out.
González from the Grupo Mazz has three of his sons in the group. Grupo Mazz is credited for modernizing the Tejano style of music.

Volcán del Fuego Eruption Aftermath In Guatemala Leaves Destruction And Death

The death toll continues to rise as rescue workers continue efforts to reach areas that were devastated by the Volcán del Fuego eruption on Sunday.

El Rodeo, Guatemala - Dozens of bodies have been recovered from the villages and townships near the eruption of the Volcán del Fuego (Fire Volcano). The deadly volcano erupted on Sunday leaving no time for residents near the area to escape. It was the second eruption, since 1974 and the most deadliest, according to authorities.

Scores of families were found deceased in village homes and open spaces as some attempted to escape the deadly volcanic gases and hot asses including dust that claimed dozens of lives including children. Hundreds of surviving victims have sought shelter in areas that escaped the devastation. Preliminary reports indicated that at least 72 have been killed and the dead toll is rising, more than 300 reported injured with severe burns and about 192 people have been reported missing. A state of emergency has been declared in the area by the Guatemalan government.

According to Guatemalan authorities, a deadly mixture of volcanic gases, pumice, ash, and hot lava flow came down from the volcano in speeds up to 430 miles per hour on nearby villages catching people by surprised and no time to escape.

Rescue workers found dead children hugging each other in rooms at village homes still standing, but full of volcanic ash.

The hot lava flow came down the volcano slopes and covered houses as it destroyed properties and everything on its path. Rescue workers are facing a difficult time in the affected area due to hot grounds and ash that melt the soles of their boots and the gases including the mixture of rain and ash turning into acid rain.

CNN reported that at least 17 deceased victims have been identified, according to Guatemala's National Forensic Sciences and that most of the victims were from the city of Hunapu in the State of Escuintla.

More than 3,100 people have been evacuated from the affected area and more than 1.7 million people have been affected in the region, according to CONRED, the Guatemalan disaster relief agency.

The burial rituals and funerals continued on Wednesday as survivors cope with the loss of family members, homes and lands.

Disaster relief is beginning to arrive in Guatemala from neighboring nations.

Three Deceased Undocumented Immigrants Abandoned By Smugglers Found In The Rio Grande Valley Sector

Three alleged undocumented immigrants were found dead within 24 hours in separated areas along the Rio Grande Valley sector, the U.S. Customs and Border Protection reported.

Edinburg, Texas - On Tuesday, the U.S. Customs and Border Protection reported that within 24 hours since Monday at least 3 bodies were found in three separate areas along the Rio Grande Valley sector. Apparently, the deceased undocumented immigrants were abandoned by smugglers, according to U.S. Border Patrol agents in the Rio Grande Valley sector.

On Monday, Border Patrol agents responded to a report of a lost individual in the Falfurrias, Texas area and a body was located by the Border Patrol Search, Trauma and Rescue (BORSTAR) operators and an Air and Marine Operations helicopter.

The Brooks County Sheriff's Office (BCSO) also responded and the body was taken to local coroner's office. According to the BCSO, at least 80 bodies of undocumented immigrants are found in area per year and many are never identified.

A second decease undocumented immigrant was also later located on Monday near Brownsville, Texas. The third deceased undocumented immigrant was located in Mission, Texas and the Mission Police Department responded to the scene including the local Justice of the Peace who declared the person deceased. The body was taken to the local morgue.

Madison, WI - Incumbent Wisconsin State Representative JoCasta Zamarripa (D-Milw.) from the 8th Assembly District is facing challenger Maria Villarreal another Democrat in the August 14th Partisan Primary Election and a Republican challenger, Angel Sanchez in the November 6th General Election, according to the Wisconsin Elections Commission. Zamarripa submitted 277 nomination signatures to get on the ballot while Villarreal submitted 217 and Sanchez submitted 276 signatures.

Villarreal is a newcomer in politics and is running for office for the first time and Sanchez is a former Milwaukee Common Council member. Who ever wins the primary election moves forward to the November election.

Zamarripa is running for re-election and was first elected into office in 2010.

In other elections, incumbent Wisconsin State Representative Jessie Rodriguez (R-Oak Creek) in the 21st Assembly District is facing a Democrat challenger, Gabriel A. Gomez in the November 6th General Election. Rodriguez submitted 313 nomination signatures to get on the ballot for re-election and Gomez submitted 279 signatures.

Rodriguez was first elected into office in 2013.
Incumbent Wisconsin State Representative Josh Zepnick (D-Milw.) from the 9th Assembly District submitted 280 nomination signatures to get on the ballot for the Partisan Primary Election and challenger, Marisabel Cabrera (D-Milw.) submitted 260 signatures. Zepnick is running for re-election and was elected into office in 2002.

Ernesto R. Rodriguez, Well Known Poet, Artist And Political Activist Passed Away

Rodriguez was well known for his hundreds of paintings in Milwaukee and Michigan.

Haslett, Michigan - Ernesto R. Rodriguez, 83, a well known and respected artist, poet and political activist in the Milwaukee Latino community in Wisconsin and Michigan has passed away. Rodriguez painted hundreds of paintings that depicted the Chicano, Mexican movement and other issues that Latinos faced in the U.S.

Rodriguez passed away on Monday in Michigan where he resided at Grange Acres in Haslet. He would return to Milwaukee to visit and enjoyed the annual Mexican Fiesta at the lakefront.

Rodriguez was originally from Galveston, Texas. He spent 26-years in prison and co-authored "In The Iron Cage" book, which is a true biography of the life of Rodriguez.

Rodriguez is survived by sons and daughters.

Rodriguez will be greatly missed by family and friends.

Laredo, TX - The Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), Texas Department of Justice Texas Rangers Division and the U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) have an ongoing death investigation involving U.S. Border Patrol Agent Romualdo Barrera, 47, in connection with the shooting homicide of Claudia Patricia Gómez González, 20, an undocumented immigrant originally from San Juan Ostuncalco, Guatemala who was fatally shot behind the head on Wednesday, May 23rd in Río Bravo. Barrera hasn't officially been identified by the FBI, Texas Rangers or the CBP, but his name has been circulating in Laredo protests seeking justice for Claudia. Hispanic News Network U.S.A. (HNNUSA) has been the only news source to identified Barrera who in 2014 received a recognition award for saving an undocumented 8-year-old girl in the U.S. border who was left behind due to a health issue and being exhausted due to the heat. Agent Barrera carried the young girl for a mile, according to the CBP.

Agent Barrera has been placed on administrative duties pending the outcome of the investigation in connection with the death of González.

Barrera is a 15-year veteran for the U.S. Customs and Border Protection. Agent Barrera has hired George Altgelt, a Laredo local attorney to represent him as the FBI and the Texas Rangers continue to investigate González's death as a possible homicide. 

Agent Barrera at first gave a preliminary report that he was attacked by a group of undocumented immigrants with a blunt object (a 2x4 piece of lumber), but later the CBP revised their press release saying that the agent was attacked and didn't mention any weapons used by the undocumented immigrants. 

Marta Martinez, the woman who posted multiple videos from the crime scene says, that authorities didn't find any 2x4 pieces of lumber where Agent Barrera killed González because there were none. Martinez confirmed that González was faced down on the grassy area adjacent to her property and bleeding from her left side of her face. González had suffered a fatal bullet wound from behind the head. Martinez heard at least one shot fired, but another witness heard several shots. 

The Webb County Coroner's office only identified González as the victim, but didn't release any details about how she died or injuries from the fatal shooting.

At least three other undocumented male immigrants were taken into custody in the area, but no details have been released by the CBP, FBI or the Texas Rangers about their testimony concerning the González death.

The three other undocumented men that accompanied González and detained were identified by the Guatemalan government as Ader Cabrera Sánchez, 18, Carlos Pérez Vicente, 20, and Damian Mendez Peñalonzo, 18. Apparently, one of the aunts of the victim told a news media outlet that a smuggler was had charged more than $11,000 dollars to smuggle González into the U.S. 

According to González's mother, her daughter left to the U.S. to seek employment because there was no work in her village. Yosimar Morales, González's fiancé who resides in Alexandria, Virginia says, that he hadn't seen her for a year and that she was coming to the U.S. to meet up with him and get married. González had recently graduated as an accountant in Guatemala, but couldn't find a job, so she decided to travel to the U.S.
González's parents including Morales are mourning the death of Claudia. They are now seeking justice for González.

Crossing into the U.S. without legal status for the first time is a federal civil offense, which might result in deportation depending on the circumstances and is not a federal criminal offense.

The CBP and Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) are known as the most corrupt U.S. Department of Homeland Security agencies in the U.S., which rogue agents have killed undocumented immigrants while in custody and none have been charged or prosecuted in those murders. 

At least 97 shooting deaths of undocumented immigrants by U.S. Border agents have been reported in the last 15 years with no prosecution of agents involved.
