La Cueva Mexican Restaurant and bar was shutdown by Milwaukee Police due to over capacity on New Year's Eve 2024

Milwaukee, Wisconsin - On Tuesday, December 31, 2024, Milwaukee police at approximately 11:04 p.m. responded to an over capacity report at La Cueva Mexican Restaurant and Bar at 2537 W. National Ave. in the Southside of Milwaukee. Multiple police units responded to the scene and all patrons at La Cueva were made to leave the bar and the establishment closed before the New Year arrived.
Police didn't report, if La Cueva operators were cited for over capacity. The agent for La Cueva LLC, Class B Tavern and Public entertainment premises is Antonio R. Layton, according to City of Milwaukee Licenses Committee records.
La Cueva patrons were distraught after being told to evacuate the establishment due to over capacity and had to find other local New Year's Eve celebration venues to welcome 2025.
