Homicide Suspect 22-year-old Xavier L. Tate Jr, Arrested In Glendale Heights By Chicago Police And U.S. Marshals In Illinois

Tate Jr. was taken into custody by Chicago police and the U.S. Marshals Service in Glendale Heights.

Glendale Heights, Illinois - On Wednesday, Chicago police and U.S. Marshals arrested murder suspect Xavier L. Tate Jr., 22, aka, "Zay" from Aurora in Glendale Heights, according to the Chicago Police Department.

The arrest was made on early Wednesday evening.

A $100,000 combined reward had been offered by the Cook County Crime Stoppers, the ATF (Bureau of Alcohol, Tabacco and Firearms) and the Chicago Police Memorial Foundation leading to the arrest and conviction of Tate Jr., the homicide suspect connected to the April 21 murder of Chicago Police Officer Luis Huesca, 30, at the 3100 block of W. 56 St. in the Southwest Gage neighborhood area in Chicago.

Tate was charged with 1st-degree murder, aggravated vehicular hijacking and possession of a firearm for the homicide of Chicago Police Officer Huesca.

According to the criminal complaint, Tate shot off-duty Police Officer Huesca multiple times in the face after dragging him out of his personal vehicle, then took Huesca's police badge, service handgun and his vehicle during the car jacking and fled the crime scene. Huesca was in full police uniform, had just ended his duty shift and was headed home, according to the Chicago Police Department.

The vehicle was later located.
