Armed Robbery Suspects Strike At Local Southside Mexican Style Restaurants

Multiple Southside Mexican style restaurants including a McDonald's and a liquor store were robbed by armed suspects.

Milwaukee, WI - On Wednesday, Milwaukee police arrested an armed robber after he came back to pick up his cell phone that he dropped on the street after a shooting inside the A-1 Liquor Store at the 9200 block of W. Oklahoma Ave. on January 3rd. The 62-year-old owner of the store says, that the suspect under arrest looks to like the armed suspect that robbed the same store a month ago. In that incident, the suspect fled with a cash box.

The suspect fired one gunshot inside the store. Police say, the suspect called the found and when he showed to recover it, he was taken into custody. A handgun was recovered from his vehicle. The suspect might be connected to other local armed robberies.

La Taqueria Los Gallos, 1800 S. 13th Street reported on Wednesday that an armed robber walked into the restaurant and ordered food, shortly after he took a handgun out and robbed the place after mishandling a female worker. Francisco Hernández, the owner of La Taqueria Los Gallos says, the armed robber took about $300 and pointed his gun at the head of a customer before leaving. Hernández is now offering $5,000 reward for any information leading to the arrest and conviction of the armed robber, according to the Taqueria Los Gallos Facebook account.  The armed robber was caught by surveillance camera.

The McDonald's restaurant at the 2600 block of W. Morgan was reported robbed at the end of December. The armed robber fled with an undetermined amount of cash.

El Cabrito restaurant the 1100 block of S. 11th Street in Milwaukee's Southside was also robbed on December 27, 2016, according to police. The suspect, armed with a gun, walked in through the front door and demanded money from the employees. The employees gave the suspect their money and the suspect then fled from the scene on foot, according to the Milwaukee Police Department.

In both the A-1 Liquor store and LA Taqueria Los Gallos , the suspect was Afro-American and at the Cabritos restaurant, the suspect was described a White. This would be the second armed robbery that the Cabrito restaurant reported an armed robbery in 2016.

In all cases, a surveillance video camera caught the suspects robbing the businesses.

Several armed Afro-American suspects allegedly robbed the Station in the Park at 812 S. Layton Boulevard on December 23rd, 2016. They fled with cash.
On December 15, 2016, an armed Hispanic male suspect enter the Radio Shack at 1844 S. 15th Street and demanded cash from several employees and then fled. No one was reported hurt.
The Jalapeño restaurant at 2106 W. National Ave. was robbed by several male suspects with a sawed-off weapon on December 13, 2016. The suspects fled with cash an a purse.

Milwaukee, WI - On Wednesday, Raul Ventura Ortiz, the radio host of Radio Latina 5.0 Internet radio aired a live commentary program discussing major issues affecting Latinos locally, U.S.A., Mexico and other parts of Latin America to thousands of viewers on Facebook and via the internet from Milwaukee's Southside Gran Teocalli, 2011 W. Forest Home Ave. Radio Latina is a popular program that travels around the inter-state region between Illinois, Indiana and Wisconsin in the Midwest to raise awareness including discussion/debate and to connect community influencial Latino community stake holders to speak out about issues affecting them and communities at large.

One of the issues discussed was the lack of managing of at least three trillion U.S. dollars of Hispanic economic spending power to infuence change. As of today, Latinos have yet to learn how to manage their spending empowerment to influence change and economic empowerment to push for a comprehensive immigration reform bill in the Republican control federal legislature and the incoming President-elect Trump administration and Trump's anticipated discriminatory policies targeted at the immigrant population.

National PEMEX Boycott, Insecurity, Vandalism Caused G500/Grupo Gasolinero To Close 400 Of Its Gas Stations In Mexico

400 of the G500 Gas Stations to close due to violence and stolen gasoline by criminal groups

MX - On Tuesday, Antonio Caballero, President of G500/Grupo Gasolinero, a gas retailer and distributor in Mexico announced that on Wednesday, 400 of 800 of its gas stations will be closed by noon in Naucalpan, Reforma and Atízapan in Mexico including in Mexico City due to an increase of violence icluding vandalism, reports of stolen gasoline and employees and customers being injured by unknown criminal groups taking advantage of a national gasoline boycott. Caballero is seeking security and protection by the Mexican government.
Last Tuesday, Mexican syndicated and organized groups El Barzón (a civil and social rights group) around Mexico began a national boycott of PEMEX gasoline due to an increase of 20% of gas prices, which went into effect New Year's Day and was approved by the Mexican Congress and President Peña Nieto.
PEMEX supplies gasoline to G500 gas stations.

On January 1, 2017, the monopoly national gasoline PEMEX Company will increase gasoline prices per liter by 20% under a federal law passed by the Mexican Congress and President Enrique Peña Nieto.

• Premium: $17.79 pesos per liter (U.S. $0.85) +20.1% increase
• Diesel: $17.05 pesos per liter (U.S. $0.82) +16.5% increase 

Kenosha Police Officer Kendal J. West Charged With Felony Count And Battery Involving Boyfriend Of Estranged Wife

Kenosha Police Officer West was charged with one felony count for misconduct in office and two misdemeanor counts for battery and disorderly conduct for an early New Year's Day altercation with an ER doctor involved in a relationship with West's estranged wife.

Kenosha, WI - On Tuesday, Kenosha Police Officer Kendal J. West, 29, was charged with one felony count for misconduct in office including the use of excessive force and two misdemeanors counts for battery and disorderly conduct, according to Racine County Court records. A cash bail was set at $20,000 for West. West is expected back in court for a preliminary hearing on January 20.

West taken into custody on early Sunday around 2:00 a.m. in connection with an altercation early New Year's Day with an ER doctor who is dating West's estranged wife. West's wife went to talk to her boyfriend at a Kenosha hospital parking lot. While the doctor talked to West's estranged wife, Officer West while on duty stopped by after following his wife and got out of his police squad. West approached the doctor, suddenly in a jealousy rage began to punch the doctor in the head and then got into his squad and drove off almost striking the doctor.

West's estranged wife told investigators that she had earlier tried to serve West with divorce papers, but he had tore them up.

A hospital nearby video surveillance camera in the parking lot recorded when West struck the doctor multiple times.

West was charged on Tuesday with the following counts:

• Battery (Class A misdemeanor) if found guilty, West is facing up to 9 months in jail and up to $10,000 in fines

• Misconduct in office (Class I Felony)  if found guilty, West is facing up to 3 years and 6 months in prison and up to $10,000 in fines

• Disorderly Conduct (Class B Misdemeanor) if found guilty, West is facing up to 90 days in jail and up to $1,000 in fines

Cash bond for West was set at $20,000, according to Racine County Court records.

Kenosha Police Chief Daniel Miskins cited that Officer West has been placed on administrative duty and the "altercation stemming from a personal problem."

West was hired in 2013 by the Kenosha Police Department and was a former police officer with Montgomery Alabama Police Department. West is originally from Kenosha, according to the KPD.

City of Milwaukee Municipal ID's Being Issued By Appointment Only

The City of Milwaukee License Division confirmed, municipal IDs are now available for local residents.

Milwaukee, WI - On Tuesday, the City of Milwaukee License Division Office (MLDO) confirmed that City municipal IDs are now available for residents. To apply for a municipal ID, residents need to download the application from their website (available in English, Spanish and Hmong languages) or go to the MLDO in person and get a copy, fill it out completely, call the MLDO for an appointment to get an ID. The municipal ID will be sent to the person applying within two weeks. 

Eligible residents applying for a municipal identification (ID) card can be any resident from the age of 14 accompanied by parent or guardian and older. Residents will pay a fee of $10.00 to get an ID (a replacement ID would cost $5.00) and will be good for five years.

Residents would need identity documents (U.S. or foreign passport, Consular ID, Permanent Residency card (Green card), U.S. state or federal ID and a U.S. state license) and must have lived in the city for 15 days to be eligible to get a municipal ID. The ID will be mailed to applicant.

An applicant must notify the City Clerk's Office within 10 days, if ID is lost or stolen and any change of address.

ID won't be valid or authorized for voting purposes.

If you are unable to meet the requirements of an ID application, an appeal could be made with the City Clerk's Office.

Kenosha Police Officer Kendal J. West Facing Multiple Felony Charges For New Year's Day Altercation

Kenosha Police Officer West was booked at the Racine County jail and is facing multiple felony charges including a battery charge for an early New Year's Day altercation.

Kenosha, WI - The Kenosha Police Department (KPD) confirmed, that Kenosha Police Officer Kendal J. West, 29, has been taken into custody on early Sunday around 2:00 a.m. in connection with an altercation early New Year's Day. Officer West was booked at the Racine County jail and the incident is being investigated by the Racine County Sheriff's Office.

West is facing multiple felony charges including a charge for battery.

West was booked at the Racine County Sheriff's jail with the following charges:

• Battery/Special Circumstances (Class I Felony) if found guilty, West is facing up to 3 years and 6 months in prison and up to $10,000 in fines

• 1st-degree Reckless Endangering Safety (Class F Felony) West, if found guilty is facing up to 12 years and 6 months in prison and up to $25,000 in fines

• Misconduct in office (Class I Felony)  if found guilty, West is facing up to 3 years and 6 months in prison and up to $10,000 in fines

• Disorderly Conduct (Class B Misdemeanor) if found guilty, West is facing up to 90 days in jail and up to $1,000 in fines

Cash bond for West was set at $22,650, according to the Racine County Sheriff's Office.

Mauricio Luna Jr. Celebrating His Birthday Arrested In Rockford For Firing Gushots On New Year's Day

Luna Jr. discharged at least nine gunshots in the air after a local Rockford restaurant refused Luna re-entry.

Rockford, Illinois - On Sunday, the Rockford Police Department reported that Mauricio Luna Jr., 24, was taken into custody around 12:38 a.m. on New Year's Day by a Metro Law Enforcement officer shortly after Luna while allegedly intoxicated discharged at least nine gunshots into the air and then went to his vehicle and sat down. Rockford police say, Luna was celebrating his birthday at Franchesco's Ristorante located at 7128 Spring Creek Rd in Rockford when he left the establishment and was refused re-entry. Luna went to his vehicle and retrieved a handgun and fired gunshots into the air in the parking lot.

A Metro Law enforcement officer arrived at the scene and spotted Luna in his vehicle. When the officer approached Luna, he pointed the weapon at the officer, but the officer was able to take the weapon from Luna and arrested him.

Rock police arrived and took Luna into custody. Nine spent cartridges were recovered from the parking lot.

Luna was charged with:

• Reckless Discharge of Firearm
• Aggravated Assault

• Violation CCW Law (While Under the Influence of Alcohol)

Luna had a valid FOID and a Concealed Carry License. No one was injured and no property was damaged during the incident, according to the Rock Police Department.
