Arizona Law Enforcement Officers Who Would Enforce SB 1070 Considered Outlaws With A Badge

Editorial:

Arizona officers when sworn in to office take an oath to support the Constitution of the United States of America, and Tucson Police Officer Martin H. Escobar files lawsuit against Governor Jan Brewer and the State of Arizona over SB 1070

Phoenix, AZ -A majority of law enforcement officers in the State of Arizona are aware that SB 1070 also known as the immigration enforcement law is unconstitutional. Regardless of its legality, most police and sheriff's departments are required and are willing to enforce such law come August.
By complying to enforce the law, eventhough they know it's illegal makes the act of enforcement an illegal act. Thus, violating their oath to support the U.S. Constitution.
Officers who would support such measure, will definately engage in racial profiling and leading to discrimination. The public will lose trust and labeled the rouge officers as "outlaws with a badge."  As Maricopa County Sheriff Joe Arpaio has come to be known, and currently is being investigated by the U.S. Department of Justice for violation of civil rights and using his office to promote racial profiling and discrimination. Arpaio denies the allegations, but as an outlaw with a badge, public opinion dictates otherwise.
Officers and sheriff's who refuse to comply and enforce SB 1070, eventhough they have also sworn to support the state Constitution and laws of the State of Arizona are true law enforcement officers with integrity, loyalty, honesty and law biding officers. They are the true heroes with integrity, and should be commended for their actions to support the U.S. Constitution by deciding not to comply and enforce SB 1070.
It's a shame that Arizona Governor Jan Brewer and the majority of the state legislators who voted for SB 1070 into law lack the integrity to know the measure is unconstitutional.
SB 1070 authorizes police officers to stop and determine the legal status of suspects or citizens, if they have reason to believe they are in the country illegally. Undocumented immigrants, if convicted face a state felony charge, 6 months in prison and deportation.
The U.S. Department of Justice and the U.S. Homeland Security Department are determining, if Arizona's law is illegal. Opponents say the law leads to abuse and racial profiling.
On Tuesday, Phoenix Mayor Phil Gordon said, he will file a lawsuit challenging SB 1070 and a multitud of groups and organizations are expected to join in the litigation.
On Thursday, CCN reported Police Officer Martin H. Escobar from Tucson, Arizona filed a lawsuit against Governor Jan Brewer and the State of Arizona, claiming that SB 1070 provides no "race neutral criteria or basis to suspect or dentify who is lawfully in the United States."
The National Coalition of Latino Clergy and Christian Leaders also filed a lawsuit in U.S. District Court in Phoenix claiming SB 1070 leads to racial profiling and citing it is unconstitutional.

Arizona Pima County Sheriff Confirmed SB 1070 Won't Be Enforced, Becomes First To Defy State Law

April 28, 2010

Tucson, Arizona (HNNUSA) - Clarence Dupnik, Pima County Sheriff became the first high ranking law enforcement officer to defy Arizona's immigration enforcement state law, which takes effect in August. Dupnik criticized the legislature and Governor Jan Brewer for signing it into law. "What she and the legislature has accomplished is morally wrong and a national embarrassment," Dupnik told ABCNews.

Milwaukee Immigrant May 1st March Part Of 70 Nationwide Protest Marches Against Arizona's SB 1070 State Law

April 27, 2010

Milwaukee (HNNUSA) - A press release on Tuesday, organizers for the May 1st Immigration Reform march incorporated SB 1070 in this years event. Voces de la Frontera states, that ten of thousands are expected to gather next Saturday to help protest Arizona's SB 1070 bill that was signed into law last Friday by Governor Jan Brewer. The bill authorizes Arizona police to determine the legal status of suspects or citizens, if they have reason to believe thay are illegally in the U.S. Brewer by signing the bill made it a state criminal offense to be in the country illegally and undocumented immigrants, if convicted face 6 months in prison, $2,500 in fines and deportation once they complete their sentence.
Anti-immigrant and amnesty groups are now trying to influence and pushing for Republican state representatives in Texas and other states, including Wisconsin to pass a similar immigration enforcement bill like Arizona.
In 2005 Wisconsin Governor Jim Doyle (Dem.), signed Act 126 requiring a Social Security (SS) for issuing a state driver's license and a state ID to applicants, keeping thousands of Hispanics and immigrants without a SS from renewing their licenses once they expired. Today, they're less than 300,000 Latinos living in Wisconsin and thousands of them are driving without valid licenses, according to the Wisconsin Motor Vehicle Department.
In June, Wisconsin drivers are required to have vehicle insurance by law, affecting unlicense drivers even more.
In Milwaukee, a valid driver license, a state valid ID or property ownership documents proving city residency is required to use the self garbage waste depository center at the 3800 block of W. Lincoln Ave. Numerous Latinos in the South side are left without the service, eventhough they pay taxes. Anyone dumping trash or garbage in a city vacant lot or private property will be fined up to $1,000. These are just a few costly issues that have effected undocumented immigrants in the Milwaukee area left without a state license or ID's.
A state driver's license was first  established as a privilege to legally drive in Wisconsin and was never meant to become a U.S. citizenship ID card.
Immigration reform supporters will meet in front of Voces de la Frontera's office, 1027 S. 5th St. in Milwaukee. The Voces de la Frontera march begins at 12 p.m. and will proceed along W. National Ave. in the South side to Mitchell Park located in the 2500 block of W. Pierce St. in Milwaukee.
The Milwaukee march is one of 70 marches being held throughout the country and the May 1st marches have been the largest gatherings in previous years, according to Christine Neumann-Ortiz, Executive Director of Voces de la Frontera.
Last October 10, 2009, Voces de la Frontera held a march and less than 2,000 people participated, which the total cost exceeded $3,000 for permits and police escort, according to organizers.
Last week in Arizona, U. S. Congressman Raul Grijalva (D-AZ) opposing SB 1070 called for a boycott in Arizona, shortly after it was passed. Other Latino leaders in the U.S. have transpired similar appeals for Hispanics to initiate boycotts.
Currently, the state of Arizona is facing a $3 billion dollar deficit, and a study by the Perryman Group cited that if all of the estimated 460,000 undocumented immigrants would leave Arizona, the state would lose an estimated $26 billion dollars of economic generated income solely from immigrants.
President Barack H. Obama has ordered the U.S. Department of Justice to determine, if Arizona's immigration enforcement law is legal.
On Tuesday, Eric Holder, U.S. Attorney General said, the Justice Department and the U.S. Homeland Security Department are reviewing the legality of Arizona's SB 1070. Holder told reporters, the law can be abuse and the Justice Department will most likely challenge the state law in federal court.
The federal government can withold Arizona's federal funding, if it determines that it discriminates.
Arizona's Capitol police confirmed that swastikas were smeared with refried beans outside the glass doors of the Capitol building. Police suspect that protesters staying in the area had smeared the swastikas, while police weren't looking.
In the Midwest, H. Nelson Goodson, an Immigration Reform and Civil Rights Journalist from Milwaukee, Wisconsin called for Latinos to initiate an economic boycott on March 21, and lasting until an immigration reform bill is passed. Goodson said, "Latinos should begin to limit their spending to bare essentials only, to show and eventually manage our economic power which is expected to reach $1.3 trillion by 2013 in the U.S."
A successful economic boycott would no doubt result and influence immigration reform, we've managed to elect a majority of Democrats in both the U.S. House of Representatives and the U.S. Senate in 2006, and millions of Latinos were instrumental in electing President Obama, a Democrat in 2008. So nationally, Latinos have united and are networking with each other resulting in political empowerment, which Arizona's immigration enforcement bill reinforces our efforts to continue to influence change in America along with President Obama.
Arizona's SB 1070 has helped to resurge our efforts to continue to challenge these types of unconstitutional and discriminatory laws enacted by Repubicans. But now, we need to actually manage our economic power to become a collective force to reckon with, according to Goodson.
The Arizona law has push the immigration reform issue forward and both Congressmen and U.S. Senators are moving to address the issue within months. Opposition from Republicans might stall immigration reform, they want to secure the border first before taking up the issue.
In Chicago, Illinois, the May 1st march will be held on Saturday and people expected to gather at 1:00 p.m. at Union Park, 1501 W. Randolph, then they will march to Daley Plaza at 3:00 p.m., according to organizers.
On May 1st, immigration reform activists, organizations and groups have planned 70 marches throughout the country in support of immigration reform and workers rights in conjunction with May Day events. May Day which is synonymous with International Workers' Day or Labour Day, becomes a day of political demonstrations and celebrations organised by the unions, anarchist, and socialist groups.

Arizona Minuteman Sparks Water Throwing Incident By Instigating SB 1070 Protesters

Legal challenges lining up against Arizona's immigration enforcement bill and businesses permanently closing costing hundreds of jobs as a result of SB 1070 passage

April 25, 2010

Phoenix, Arizona (HNNUSA) - On Friday, an Arizona Minuteman sparks water bottle throwing by SB 1070 protesters after instigating crowd. The man walked and pushed through a crowd of protesters outside the capitol while shouting insults. Police were able to escort the Minuteman away from the crowd, but he continued to call out insults. One man was arrested and no injuries were reported.
The incident occured minutes after Governor Jan Brewer signed SB 1070 into law. The law becomes enforcible in late August. SB 1070 authorizes police to determine the legal status of suspects or citizens, if they have reason to believe they are illegally in the U.S. It requires police departments and state police to enforce the law, and allows for litigation against departments who failed to enforce SB 1070, which makes it a criminal offense for an undocumented immigrant to be in the country illegally, conflicting and superceding federal immigration laws. Under federal law, being in the country illegally is a federal civil offense and not a crime.
The new Arizona immigration enforcement law makes it a state crime to be in the U.S. illegally, and undocumented immigrants, if convicted face up to 6 months in prison and fines up to $2,500.
Over the weekend, hundreds of businesses in Mesa, Phoenix and around the valley have closed their door in the wake of Arizona's new law aimed to prosecute illegal immigrants. Some of the businesses aren't expected to reopen costing hundreds of jobs in the area. Area business owners who depend on Latino business are feeling the effect and say people are just staying home and families are moving out of Arizona and relocating to immigrant friendly states.
Local business and property owners fear that the new law will evently lead to Arizona's economy to crash, if immigrants and legal citizens continue to flee the state for fear of being persecuted and discriminated by police for being Latino.
Currently, the state of Arizona is facing a $3 billion dollar deficit, and a study by the Perryman Group cited, that if all of the estimated 460,000 undocumented immigrants would leave Arizona, the state would lose an estimated $26 billion dollars of economic generated income solely from immigrants.
Arizona's convention and tourism agencies strongly opposed the bill, because it would deter business travel, tourism, out of state corporated meetings and conventions. Since, the measure was signed on Friday by Gov. Brewer, thousands of cancelations have been pouring in to avoid travel and police contact. Potential tourists are now changing plans and traveling to friendly tourist states around the country. One Wisconsin man who had planned to visit Arizona early this Summer, but canceled his plans said, "I wouldn't be surprised at all, if Arizona's future slogan for its license plates read 'Illegals not welcome'." He didn't want to be identified.
Phoenix Mayor Phil Gordon, who opposes the bill says, SB 1070 is unconstitution and has included an item on the agenda for Tuesday's meeting with the City Council to get approval to initiate the first legal challenge against SB 1070. Gordon is expected to instruct the city manager and the city attorney to file a lawsuit against Governor Brewer and SB 1070.
The American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU), numerous Latino legal defense organizations, the Puerto Rican Bar Association, the Hispanic Federation and religious groups will follow in challenging the newly signed Arizona immigration enforcement law. The Mexican American Legal Defense and Educational Fund (MALDEF), a national non-profit civil rights organization is expected to seek a federal injunction against SB 1070 in order to permanently keep it from taking effect, according to Victor Viramontes, senior legal counsel for MALDEF. The coalition of groups against Arizona's law will mostly likely file a lawsuit as soon as next week, and adding a costly financial obligation for Arizona to defend SB 1070, which will increase its deficit even more.
President Barack H. Obama has ordered the U.S. Department of Justice to determine, if Arizona's law is legal.
U. S. Congressman Raul Grijalva (D-AZ) opposing SB 1070 called for a boycott in Arizona, shortly after it was passed. Other Latino leaders in the U.S. have transpired similar appeals for Hispanics to initiate boycotts.
During a peaceful protest on Sunday at the Capitol in Phoenix, Congressman Grijalva vowed to overturn SB 1070 and march with thousands to protest the law, if it survives a legal challenge. He called on President Obama to ignore Arizona's move to turn undocumented immigrants to the federal government's immigration agency U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) for deportation. "We're going to overturn this unjust and racist law, and then we're going to overturn the power structure that created this unjust racist law," Grijalva said during his speech to thousands of protesters that gathered at the Capitol.
The Rev. Al Sharpton on Sunday from New York confirmed he will go to Arizona, if the bill would take effect in August and march with thousands of Latinos and would call on Black America to join the movement to overturn the racist bill SB 1070. Sharpton, Grijalva, and Gongressman Luis Gutierrez (D-IL) believe the bill legalizes racial discrimination and Americans should overturn it.
In the Midwest, H. Nelson Goodson, an Immigration Reform and Civil Rights Journalist from Milwaukee, Wisconsin called for Latinos to initiate an economic boycott on March 21, and lasting until an immigration reform bill is passed. Goodson said, "Latinos should begin to limit their spending to bare essentials only, to show and eventually manage our economic power, which is expected to reach $1.3 trillion by 2013 in the U.S."
Although, conservative Republicans are expected to oppose any bill that will be pushed forward by Democrats. The opposition from Republicans and the GOP to block the measure has labeled them and the GOP as the "Anti-immigrant Party" and could lead to the downfall of the party. Moderate Republicans are expected to stray away from party lines and could join Democrats in a bipartisan immigration reform bill, according to Congressional insiders.

Arizona Governor Signs State Immigration Enforcement Bill Into Law, Justice Department To Determine Legality

Arizona Governor Jan Brewer

President Barack H. Obama ordered the U.S. Department of Justice to determine, if Arizona's new immigration enforcement bill SB1070 is legal

April 23, 2010

Phoenix, Arizona (HNNUSA) - On Friday, Governor Jan Brewer defiantly signed its own state immigration enforcement bill, despite opposition from members of Congress, President Barack H. Obama and countless civil rights activists. Obama claimed the bill will lead to civil rights violations of citizens living in the state and ordered the Dpartment of Justice to determine, if the bill in legal.
Immigration reform and rights activists say the Arizona bill will require police officers to question, inspect and determine the legal status of suspects or citizens, if there is reason to suspect they are in the country illegally.
Gov. Brewer addressing the media said, "it's another step forward in protecting the state of Arizona...It's another tool to help resolve a crisis we didn't create and the federal government refuses to fix." Brewer was supported in the background by law enforcement officers who must enforce the new bill 90 days after the legislative session ends in two weeks.
Arizona's bill is expected to face a legal challenge by numerous groups and possibly the federal government. The federal government could block all federal funding to Arizona, if it determines the bill is discriminatory and illegal.
If Arizona is challenged in federal court for its alleged discriminatory version of an immigration bill, the state could end up in an economic crisis due to execessive court costs and federal appeals.
The new state immigration bill is creating rampant fear among undocument parents who have their children enrolled in Arizona's public school system. They are worried police will begin a statewide operation to round-up undocument students. Gov. Brewer said, she will not tolerate racial profiling or any abuse by law enforcement officers in enforcing the law. But, Brewer by signing the bill into law has just provided the tool for law enforcement officials to discriminate and to profile, since Latinos will no doubt be targeted for citizenship verification, according to H. Nelson Goodson, an immigration reform and civil rights journalist from Wisconsin.
Numerous anti-immigrant groups and organizations supported SB1070 and have been celebrating the passage of the bill. They are now pushing other states and its legislators to pass similar bills.
Arizona has become the first state to defying federal sovereignty and federal immigration laws in its quest to curve or stop illegal immigration flow into the country.
Goodson said, "Latinos and supporters for immigration reform are staging numerous economic boycotts in the state of Arizona, and Hispanic owned businesses are considering divesting from Arizona to show state officials that Latinos do have an economic impact in the state and throughout the country." Will divesting from Arizona have an influence in its state economy? Goodson strongly believes it will have a significant affect, and immediate results would be felt by the state when it fails to generate funds and tax dollars to support their immigration enforcement law.
A national call was made back in March for Latinos to engage in a U.S. economic boycott by limiting their spending in the nations economy. It's a simple economic equation, by Latinos "limiting their spending to bare essentials only, it can lead to their economic empowerment through the management of their purchasing power and thus resulting in immigration reform," Goodson explained. U.S. Hispanics expect to exceed their projected purchasing power of $1.3 trillion by 2013.
Arizona by defying federal immigration laws and enacting its own version has put the state in the epicenter for immigration enforcement and reform. A resurgance of immigration reform movements among Latinos and supporters is expected to spread around the country, as it occured in 2006 when millions united and marched throughout the nation against U.S. Congressman James Sesenbrenner's (R.-WI) H.R. 4437 criminalizing everyone immigration bill, which failed to pass, Goodson added.
Will Arizona face fierce economic boycotts by Latinos, legal challenges, and opposition by immigration reform activists, civil rights organizations, federal government and the Department of Justice probe to determine, if Arizona's state immigration bill is legal? Time will definately determine the outcome.

Mexican Consulate In Chicago Confirms U.S. Businesses Legalizing Vehicles To Import Into Mexico Is Fraud

In December 2009, Chicago's Legalizaciones Mexicano at 3121 W. 26 St. closed and a sign on door said "Oficinas cerradas, no hay información a donde se movieron", Offices closed, no information where they moved. Offices were located in La Villita business sector.

The Mexican Consulate confirms that businesses in the U.S. promoting and charging for legalizing vehicles from the U.S. to be temporaryly or permanently imported into Mexico is fraud, only Mexican Customs at the border crossings are authorized to do so.

By H. Nelson Goodson
April 22, 2010

Chicago, IL - On Wednesday, the Mexican Consulate of Chicago released a press release confirming that businesses and agencies in the U.S. promoting the temporary and permanent legalization of vehicles into Mexico is fraud. The Mexican Consulate says only Mexican Custom agents at the border crossings are authorized to legalize vehicles to be imported into Mexico. Legalization costs should be paid at the border crossing by people importing the vehicle. The legalization payments and required permits will be handled by the Mexican Custom agents working for the Secretaría de Hacienda y Crédito Público (SHCP) at the border between the U.S. and Mexico.
Vehicles with less than 600 miles will be allowed to be imported to Mexico and used vehicles between 10-15 years old and only models made in the U.S. and Canada are allowed.
Since August 2009, the Chicago Mexican Consulate states that they had been working with the Illinois State Attorney General's Office concerning citizen complaints of the Legalización Mexicano business operation committing fraud, especially in Chicago.
On Tuesday, the Illinois Attorney General's Office filed a lawsuit as a form of a complaint alleging Legalización Mexicano was a vehicle legalizing scam operation and is seeking $50,000 in penalties against business owner Agustin Acosta-Valdez. The complaint states, that at least 50 customers of Chicago's Legalización Mexicano business in La Villita neigborhood had filed a complain with the state claiming they had paid between $350 to $5,200 totaling $79,000 for documents, permits and license plates from Mexico, which later turned out fraudulent. It is not clear, if Acosta-Valdez will face criminal charges.
In December 2009, Hispanic News Network U.S.A. from Milwaukee, Wisconsin first broke the news of the inter-state operation of Legalización Mexicano committing alleged Mexican document and license fraud. The businesses shortly after shut down operations in Milwaukee, Wisconsin; Waukegan and Chicago, Illinois. At least ten Legalización Mexicano businesses were operated by Acosta-Valdez. Acosta-Valdez sold through Legalización Mexicano numerous Mexican license plates and import permits charging customers between $1,500 to $3,000 and even more for documents and Mexican license plates who wanted their vehicles imported into Mexico.
Once the customers tried to enter Mexico, Mexican Custom agents confiscated vehicles. They were threaten to be arrested and could face charges, including hefty fines after the license plates and import permits issued by Legalización Mexicano were discovered to be false and had been used previously by other vehicles. The Legalización Mexicano customers would lose between $1,500 and up to $6,000 in total costs, but were later able to legalized their vehicles at the border.
When they complained to employees at Legalización Mexicano, they were ignored or promised refunds, which were never made.Other businesses throughout the country promote the legalization of vehicles intended to be imported into Mexico, which now the Mexican government says it's illegal and this businesses should be reported to the nearest Mexican Consulate.
If you were a victim, the Mexican Consulate in Chicago provided the following number 312-738-2023 to call and file a complain with the Consulate General and Department of Protection. Victims can also call the Illinois Attorney General's Office to file a complain at 1-866-310-8398.

May 1, immigration reform and workers rights march rallys planned, economic boycott limiting spending to bare essentials only continues

By H. Nelson Goodson
April 21, 2010

Washington D.C. - Bi-partisan political insiders from both the House of Representatives and the U.S. Senate indicate that before any steps would be taken to resurge a comprehensive immigration reform bill, the U.S. border must be secured. The primary issue would be, if the state national guards along the U.S. border and the U.S. Customs and Border Protection would be authorized by Congress to work together in securing the border.
Once the border is secured, debate might follow by introducing a U.S. Senate bill on immigration reform. The House of Representatives already have their version, the Comprehensive Immigration Reform for America's Security and Prosperity (CIR ASAP) Act of 2009, H.R. 432 bill submitted by U.S Congressman Luis Gutierrez (Dem.-IL) in December.
The Whitehouse confirmed on Tuesday, that President Barack Obama is trying to bring the immigration reform issue back into the table, after failing to address it during his first year in office. The President even on Tuesday called U.S. Senator Scott Brown (Rep.-Mass.) from Air Force One to bring him on board to support immigration reform, but Brown's priorities continue to be the current economy and creating jobs.
On Tuesday, Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid met with House Speaker Nancy Pelosi and other democratic leaders to discuss immigration reform. Currently, a bipartisan Immigration Reform bill is being put together by both U.S. Senators Lindsey Graham (Rep.-S.C.) and Charles Schumer (Dem.-N.Y.), which the Obama administration supports.
Reid plans to introduce the immigration bill by next month, but it could cost the Democrats some seats in November. Democrats have become unpopular for their support in passing Obama's Health Care Plan.
Even, the Republicans in Congress have vowed to oppose any immigration reform bill as a consequence to Democrats passing the federal Health Care Plan.
Republicans allege that Democrats while campaigning for re-election are promising Latinos they would address the immigration reform issue, to get their support for the mid-term elections in November. But, Republicans say Democrats are making empty promises and President Obama's failure to aggressively push for immigration reform last year, reinforces the issue is dead for 2010.
Latinos have learned not to trust Democrats, according to Republicans. The GOP is now considering to attract the Latino vote for the November elections. Nationally, Latinos seemed to be pulling away from the Democrats, blaming them (as a majority in Congress) for their lack of support in passing an immigration reform bill for 2010.
The GOP hopes to reclaim Congress as a majority and the Whitehouse by convincing its members and extreme conservative Rebublicans to support an immigration reform bill.
In 2006, U.S. Hispanics were instrumental in electing a majority of Democrats in Congress and in 2008, helped elect President Barack Obama (Dem.-IL), the first African-American to take office.
Every year, an estimated 400,000 U.S. Hispanics become eligible voters, when they turn 18. One of six Americans is Hispanic, and in 2009, their combine purchasing power reach $917 billion and by 2013, their combine economic buying power will reach $1.3 trillion.
On March 21, more than 200,000 supporters for Immigration Reform gathered in Washington D.C. for the "March for America" rally to push Congress and President Obama to address and pass an immigration reform bill in 2010.
During the same day, a U.S. Economic Boycott was called for action from Wisconsin, and began to take effect until an immigration reform bill is passed. Latinos were encouraged to show their economic purchasing power by limiting their spending to bare essentials only.
Hispanics and undocumented workers are taken for granted in the U.S. economy. They are considered as spenders and not savers. If Latinos do accomplish their objective in managing expenditures, they will no doubt become a powerful economic force to reckon with. Their economic influence could lead and most likely result in the passage of an immigration reform bill.
On May 1, immigration reform activists, organizations and groups have planned marches throughout the country in support of immigration reform and workers rights in conjunction with May Day events. May Day, which is synonymous with International Workers' Day, or Labour Day, becomes a day of political demonstrations and celebrations organised by the unions, anarchist, and socialist groups.

Zeta Leader Confessed In Video, Grenades Thrown At Crowd During Tampico Fair Leading To Cancelation

Photo: David Rivera Alvarez, aka "Z-43" kidnapped, interrogated and later found executed.

A Zeta leader before being found murdered, had confessed that he was involved in the grenade attack inside the Tampico Fair

By H. Nelson Goodson
April 20, 2010

Tampico, Tamaulipas, Mexico - David Rivera Alvarez, aka "Z-43"  in a video posted on YouTube while being held against his will by captors, admitted his involvement in the Tampico Fair attack in early April. Alvarez body was found on Saturday in a side street in front of Televisa del Golfo (TV Network). He had been shot in the head and was still handcuff.
Before his death, Alvarez is shown by his captors confessing that a couple of grenades had been tossed inside the Tampico Fair and innocent people had been fatally shot. He said that a police officer, and a taxi cab driver were also killed.
Alvarez told his captors that a woman with the aliases "La Güera Liliana or La Puma" had ordered the attack on the Tampico Fair, and a Mexican military post. He identified other Zeta members who participated in the Tampico Fair assault and multiple homicides by aliases, "El Guapo," "El Bubo," and "El Mono."
The attack occured on Good Friday night on April 2, and Mexican military police estimated the crowd at the Tampico Fair grounds at more than 18,000 people. Military police evacuated the fair grounds and shut down the fair, all the adjacent businesses, restaurants and nightclubs in the area. The next day the fair organizers canceled the last remaining seven days of the fair at the Carpenter Lagoon.
Seven people were reported killed at the table dance Mirage Nightclub. The Tampico news media and government reports only reported the homicides at the Mirage Nightclub, but no mention of grenades exploding inside the Tampico Fair were ever reported to the public.
The 18 day Tampico Fair, was scheduled to run from March 25 to April 11, and was sponsored by area merchants and Radiorama, a radio network in the region. Radiorama never released information about the cancelation, but notified vendors it was due to security reasons.
The fair for the first time in its 50 year history had been canceled to avoid further clashes between the Zetas and the Gulf Cartel.

David Rivera Alvarez, aka "Z-43" admitted his involvement in the Tampico Fair attack, in which two grenades were tossed into the crowd, and also resulting in 7 homicides at the Mirage Nightclub. Narco Trafico en Mexico YouTube video: http://bit.ly/cBUPfo

Arizona Defies Federal Government Sovereignty And Enacts State Immigration Enforcement

H. Nelson Goodson calls for "Hispanics to boycott spending in the U.S economy, by limiting their spending to bare essentials only. Limit spending equals Immigration Reform."

Editorial

State legislators defy federal laws on immigration and passed their own police powers to check immigration legal status of citizens

April 20, 2010

Pheonix (HNNUSA) - On Monday, the Arizona state senate passed SB1070 with a vote of 17-11, giving police officers the authority to determine the legal status of suspects and its citizens. State representatives passed a similar bill last week, and now the bill goes before Governor Jan Brewer for her signature to make it law.
The State of Arizona by enacting its own immigration enforcement laws is no doubt challenging the U.S. government's sovereign power to enact, enforce federal immigration laws, and ensure a judicial due process to determine deportation proceedings against undocumented immigrants.
The federal government even has a U.S. Attorney General's Office in Arizona, but as usual they lack legal action, Constitutional enforcement and accountabilty to challenge Arizona's enactment of state immigration enforcement laws. Arizona's SB1070 by right is unconstitutional and illegal, since the federal government has the reserve right to legislate immigration laws. The federal government has the sole authority to regulate, enact, and enforce immigration laws, according to federal sovereign powers provided by the U.S. Constitution.
Arizona is becomming a rouge state and is following Maricopa County Sheriff Joe Arpaio's defiance of the federal government sovereign power by enforcing state and local laws regulating immigration.
U.S. Attorney General Eric Holder, Homeland Security Director Janet Napolitano and Obama's administration lack any ability to challenge and to void any state legislation deemed to supercede existing federal regulation.
How can this happen today? Well, President Barack H. Obama has elapse in his ability to fulfill his pre-election promise and to push for the passage of the much needed Comprehensive Immigration Reform for America's Security and Prosperity (CIR ASAP) Act of 2009, H.R 432 bill submitted by U.S Congressman Luis Gutierrez (IL Dem.) in December. Today, the U.S. Senate has yet to provide or introduce an immigration reform bill for 2010.
The federal government should act now, and hold the State of Arizona accountable for its defiance to abide by federal laws and the U.S. Constitution. Arizona's defiance of federal laws and to enact its own immigration laws leads to anarchy.
Arizona's SB1070 legislative immigration police enforcement bill is expected to have the same consequences as Lozano v. City of Hazleton anti-immigrant law. SB1070 once enacted by Gov. Brewer, it will likely end up in a costly federal litigation battle.
As a counter measure to create awareness among Latinos, and to help boost the Immigration Reform movement, a stronge message by H. Nelson Goodson, an Immigration Reform activist from Wisconsin was sent out nationally before March 21, for "Hispanics to boycott spending in the U.S economy, by limiting their spending to bare essentials only. Limit spending equals Immigration Reform." The U.S. Economic Boycott would for the first time in history allow U.S. Hispanics to manage their economic buying power, which began on March 21st and lasts until a fair comprehensive Immigration Reform bill is passed.
Every individual and especially Latinos/as are aware of the spending and buying economic power (projected U.S Hispanic $1.3 trillion buying power by 2013) they do have in the U.S. The national shout out or call for action is for everyone who would like to sent a strong message to the U.S. Congress and President Barack H. Obama that we do count in this country and we are very much a part of it, Goodson added.

Feds Raided 7 Mile Fair In Racine And Confiscated Thousands Of Dollars Of Pirated Merchandise

FBI, U.S. Marshals and U.S. Customs and Border Protection took thousands of counterfeit sport items, totaling more than $350,000 dollars of pirated merchandise from five booths inside the 7 Mile Fair

By H. Nelson Goodson

Updated April 20, 2010

Racine, Wisconsin -On Saturday, April 17, federal agents raided the 7 Mile Fair and confiscated pirated merchandise from five booths inside the facility. Multiple federal agencies involved in the unexpected raid, were the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), the U.S. Marshals Service and the U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP). CBP specializes in piracy seizures and is a separate branch of U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE).
On Tuesday, WISN 12 TV News reporter Shelby Croft confirmed that CBP were also involved in Saturday's raid to confiscate pirated merchandise at the 7 Mile Fair. ICE was not involved in the piracy raid, according to Croft.
About 20 federal agents walked into the 7 Mile Fair in Caledonia, located on the 7 Mile Road exit and I-94 at about 9:00 a.m. on Saturday and executed search warrants for the suspected pirated merchandise. Five agents in each booth counted and took the merchandise that included thousands of items such as counterfeit sports wear, sports named Nike tennis shoes, t-shirts, sport jackets with fake brand names and other items, according to a man who also rents a spot at the 7 Mile Fair. He was not affected, but did not want to be identified.
CBP estimated the seizure totaled more than $350,000 and the investigation is ongoing, according to ICE in Chicago, Illinois.
The owners or sellers of the suspected pirated merchandise were cited and their merchandise was confiscated.
The 7 Mile Fair opened its door at 9:00 a.m. and it took two hours for the federal agents to complete their operation.
During the weekend, word had spread among the bargain shoppers that U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) has raided 7 Mile Fair and that 70 people were taken into custody for being undocumented. Which later, the rumor turned out not to be accurate, but that CBP, FBI and U.S. Marshals were only interested in pirated merchandise.
7 Mile Fair attracts thousands of bargain seekers, and most are Latino shoppers from Milwaukee, surrounding counties and Illinois looking for bizarre bargains during the economic recession.
On March 18, 2010, U.S. ICE Assistant Secretary John Morton testified before the U.S. House of Representaives on the Committee on Appropriations, and Subcommittee on Homeland Security regarding seizures of pirated merchandise. Morton stated that ICE and the U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) have been able to intercept more than 14,841 smuggled shipments of pirated merchandise in 2009. The CBP seizures were worth more than $260.7 million.
Other data indicates, U.S. businesses are losing about $200 billion a year due to piracy and counterfeit merchandise, and an estimated 750,000 jobs are being lost per year due to piracy.

ICE Shuts Down Multi-Billion Dollars Illegal Human Smuggling Operation In Arizona

Feds to confiscate $10 million in assets from Arizona smuggling shuttle businesses

April 15, 2010

Phoenix, Arizona (HNNUSA) - On Thursday, federal immigration enforcement agents launched a major operation that shut down a multi-billion dollars illegal human smuggling operation. The owners and employees of five Arizona commercial shuttle services are among the 47 criminal suspects taken into custody following the execution of federal search and arrest warrants across the state by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) targeting the infrastructure of several major Arizona based human smuggling organizations.
Within the last 10 years, the 5 shuttle businesses involved in human trafficking were responsible of smuggling more than 80,000 undocumented immigrants into the U.S. Illegal immigrants from Mexico paid a minimum of $700, and an illegal immigrant from China paid $75,000 to get smuggled through Arizona, according to ICE.
Three primary suspects who managed the major international smuggling operation that netted profits in the billions were identified as, Claudio Ramirez Morales, who managed the operation in Mexico; Gloria Haydee Vera, was in charge of the Tucson operation; and Sandra Luz Flores Anzo, accused of arranging the transportation of undocumented immigrants and was in charge of the Phoenix operation.
Authorities confiscated over $10 million in assets from the 5 shuttle businesses implicated in the international human trafficking and smuggling operation.
In a news conference on Thursday, Homeland Security Assistant Secretary for ICE John Morton and Arizona U.S. Attorney Dennis K. Burke provided details of the investigation, dubbed "Operation In Plain Sight" because of the brazen nature of the transportation companies activities. Authorities characterized the case as the most comprehensive human smuggling investigation in ICE history.
The year-long ICE investigation expanded beyond its initial focus on several Tucson-based shuttle companies allegedly used by smugglers to transport thousands of illegal aliens from southern Arizona to the Phoenix area. The bi-national investigation, which included unprecedented cooperation with Mexico's Secretaria Securidad Publica (SSP), ultimately implicated high-level members of human smuggling organizations in Phoenix, Tucson, Nogales, Ariz., and northern Mexico that were serviced by the shuttle businesses.
In a massive operation, more than 800 agents and officers from nine federal, state and local law enforcement agencies mobilized Thursday morning to carry out the arrests and searches in four Arizona communities, that included Phoenix, Tucson, Nogales and Rio Rico. In addition, agents from Mexico's SSP have also made arrests in neighboring Nogales Sonora, in connection to the federal case.
The search locations in Arizona included the offices of four Tucson shuttle services of Saguaro Roadrunner Shuttles, America's Shuttles, Guerro's Shuttles and Nogales Express Shuttles, and a fifth shuttle company in Phoenix, identified as Sergio's Shuttle. According to court documents unsealed Thursday, the aliens transported by the shuttle services were given pre-printed fare receipts in the amount of $30 in an effort to make the shuttle trips appear legitimate. Although most of the smuggled aliens identified during the investigation were from Mexico and Central America, others came from as far away as China.
The 44 suspects taken into custody were charged in four separate criminal indictments with a variety of federal violations, including money laundering, alien smuggling and conspiracy. In addition, agents arrested seven individuals criminally based upon probable cause. The prosecution is being handled by the U.S. Attorney's Office for the District of Arizona, specifically Assistant U.S. Attorney Munish Sharda in Tucson and Assistant U.S. Attorney Lisa Settel in Phoenix.
The criminal defendants, if convicted on conspiracy to transport and/or harbor illegal aliens, they face a maximum statutory penalty of 10 years. Of those charged in the indictment, four remain at large and are still being sought.
In addition to the criminal arrests, the case indictments include criminal forfeiture of property valued at $10 milliion. ICE and the U.S. Attorney's office will be seeking to seize assets, including real estate, vehicles and other property that were derived from the criminal conspiracy.
Agents also seized a total of seven weapons, including an AK-47 assault rifle, and more than 40 vehicles, according to the press release provided on Thursday by ICE.

Quintero-Sanclemente is originally from Buga, Colombia and was wanted for more than 20 years. He is suspected of ordering the multiple murders of Colombian law enforcement officials and rival cartel members.
Authorities also arrested Adrián Zambrano Sáenz and are trying to confirm his identity. If Sáenz turns out to be a Colombian national, he will be extradited, according to Colonel Báez.

Cancún, Quintana Roo, Mexico - On Saturday, Francisco Alor Quesada, spokesperson for the Mexican Attorney General's Office confirmed that military police and officials from the State of Quintana Roo Attorney General's Office had arrested Ismael Díaz Alor, 27, aka "El Negro," an accountant for the Zeta Cartel. Mexican authorities also confiscated a ledger from Díaz Alor naming 208 State of Quintana Roo Department of Justice agents and 600 Cancún Municipal police and auxiliary officers on the Zeta payroll. The Zeta ledger was found inside an Audi that Díaz Alor drives without license plates. After each name in the ledger, a phone number was written to indicate the official had received a Nextel or a cellular phone to keep direct contact with the Zetas. Documents and police daily schedules of police officers shifts, patrol squad vehicle assignment areas in 12 municipality sectors, and actual police radio frequencies used by the department were also found in the Zeta residence.
Díaz Alor confessed and confirmed Zetas paid the rank and file of alleged corrupted police officials between $1,000 pesos ($230 U.S), 5,000 pesos ($384 U.S.), 7,000 pesos ($538 U.S.), 10,000 pesos ($769 U.S.), 30,000 pesos ($2,307 U.S.), and up to 50,000 pesos ($3,846 U.S.) per month, according to Alor Quezada.
Last Thursday, Quintana Roo state authorities along with federal military police had taken part in a joint rescue assault at a Zeta house in the Green Valley neighborhood, where kidnapped businessman Anselmo Landon González had been held for ransom.
Landon González was rescued after a brief gun battle, and authorities captured Díaz Alor, along with Alenjandro Guzmán Nambo, 27, aka Rodrigo Arreola Sánchez, and José Luis Pérez Molina, 29, aka "La Pulga." All the Zeta suspects were charged with kidnapping and illegal weapons and ammunition possession.
Alor Quezada said, several other Mexican federal law enforcement agencies are investigating the alleged corruption and Zeta payoffs to more than 800 Cancún police officers and state justice agents. More arrests will follow, according to Alor Quezada from the Mexican Attorney General's Office.
22,743 people have been killed since Mexico began war in 2006 against drug cartels, and over 121,199 convicted members of cartels in Mexican prisons, according to a report by Mexican government officials.

South Side Chavez Drive To Remain Open For 2 Way Traffic Flow During Construction

Chavez Drive traffic flow continues while construction moves forward to upgrade streetscape

By H. Nelson Goodson
April 12, 2010

Milwaukee - On Monday, the Cesar Chavez BID decided not block or convert S. Cesar E. Chavez Drive into a one way. Engineers from Community Engineering & Building Services, LLC had wanted to restrict traffic flow in the conjested business corridor during the remaining construction. Members of the Chavez BID want to continue the traffic flow to let distributors and area business customers to be aware that businesses located in the construction zone will remain open for business.
The West side of the Chavez Drive was converted into a two way traffic flow and dividers were installed on Monday. Construction will focus on the East side of Chavez Drive, according to engineers supervising the streetscape remodeling project.
This week, "the next step will involve the rehabilitation of the Northbound lanes of Cesar Chavez Drive as well as the adjacent sidewalks and driveways. An estimated 20,000 vehicles come through Chavez Drive a day and we don't expect any delays completing the project. In a few days, crews will begin removing and replacing the sidewalks," said Bret M. Swenson, Construction Project Field Leader.
Last week Tuesday for the first time in decades, major construction work broke ground along S. Cesar E. Chavez Drive and traffic flow from South to North bound and vice versa was allowed between W. Greenfield Ave. to W. National Ave. Engineers supervising the Chavez construction were trying to device a plan to restrict some of the traffic flow. Traffic conjestion was slowing down the sewer line and water main repair in the middle of the street, but was completed over the weekend.
Construction engineers had an impromptu meeting with the Chavez Drive Business BID members to possibly convert traffic flow into a one way. The traffic flow plan was scrapped and the street remains open, according to the engineers.
The South side project is part of the $1.968 million dollar improvement plan for the Cesar E. Chavez Business Improvement District (BID) #38 Streetscape Project. This is an American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA) Project.

Nuevo Laredo, Tamaulipas, Mexico - Claude Young, U.S. Consulate spokesperson in Nuevo Laredo confirmed that on Friday at about 11:30 p.m. an unidentified suspect or suspects tossed a homemade explosive device near the Consulate building. The explosion caused minor damage to the building shattering windows and no injuries were reported. Young did not elaborate, if any camera surveillance video footage in the Consulate recorded the incident.
Ricardo Najera, the Mexican Attorney General's spokesperson in state of Tamualipas (PGR) reported the federal agency is investigating the incident along with the cooperation of U.S. Consulate officials.
Another U.S. Consulate in Reynosa was temperarily closed, until further notice in late February due to the escalating drug cartel feud among the Gulf Cartel and the Zetas. Restricted travel by U.S. Citizens and government officials was also issued, warning them to avoid the region, according to U.S. officials.
Last week, Mexican state and federal authorities had acknowledged that the Gulf Cartel deployment of mercenaries had forced the Zeta Cartel to retreat from most of the state of Tamaulipas and were trying to regroup in Monterrey, Carmargo Nuevo Laredo and Reynosa border towns.
Mexican federal authorities have also noticed through multiple  Sinaloa Cartel drug seizures and confiscated drug labs, that the cartel had taken control of the drug routes in Juarez. Suggesting, the Juarez Cartel and its allies, both the Barrio Azteca and La Linea gang members who are known to be hired as paid assassins (sicarios) seemed to have eventually lost control of Juarez, according to federal authorities.
In early March, the Federation of Drug Cartels was organized, which united the Gulf Cartel, Sinaloa Cartel and the Familia Michoacana Cartel to combat and eliminate the feared Zeta Cartel and its allies.

Zetas On The Run, Expelled From Tamaulipas By Rival Gulf Cartel

Gulf Cartel pushing Los Zetas out of Tamaulipas, according to state and Mexican federal authorities

April 8, 2010

Tamaulipas, Mexico (HNNUSA) - State and Mexican federal authorities have confirmed that the Zeta Cartel virtually no longer operates or have any influence in the state of Tamaulipas. Authorities suspect mercenaries hired by the Gulf Cartel have been able to eliminate the Zeta treat in the region.
The Gulf Cartel seems to have become popular within the communities and business sectors. Los Zetas were known to extort money for protection from businesses, taxi drivers and restaurants. They tortured, killed and beheaded rivals and law enforcement officials.
The Gulf Cartel vice versa doesn't extort money for protection, but seeks out Zeta rivals and eliminates them. The popular Gulf drug cartel solely traffics and smuggles drugs into the U.S., according to Mexican federal authorities.
The Gulf Cartel seems to have Los Zetas on the run and they have doubled back to regroup in Reynosa, Nuevo Laredo, Carmargo and Monterrey where they are considered more organized, deadly and profitable by extorting businesses, kidnappings and trafficking drugs such as marijuana and cocaine into the U.S.
Last week, the 18 day Tampico Fair was canceled after shots by drug cartel rivals were fired inside the fair and 7 people were killed at the table dance Mirage Nightclub on April 2. The Mexican army evacuated about 18,000 people from the fair shortly after 11:00 p.m. on Friday. On Sunday, the Radiorama group, which are the main sponsors of the event sent out cancelation notices to all the vendors at the event. The notice stated, they had officially cancel the seven remaining days of the fair. The fair for the first time in 50 years had been shut down, the 7 reported homicides, shots fired inside the fair and security reasons led to the cancelation of the fair, according to the vendors.
Since last weekend drug cartel feud and homicides, all the businesses and restaurants located at the Carpenter Lagoon area began closing early until further notice.

Washington D.C. -On Sunday, U.S. Defense Secretary Robert Gates during the ABC News "This Week" program interview backed the Crazy Horse crew of the Apache holicopter who fired at 12 civilians including two Reuters journalist killing them in 2007. Gates confirmed they were unarmed and that the Apache crew were working on split minute decisions. But, Gates never elaborated why the crew decided to get permission to fire at the civilians when in fact non of them even threaten the crew and seemed not to noticed the Crazy Horse crew hovering over them.
On April 5,  Julian Assange, WikiLeaks editor released a classified Pentagon video "Collateral Murder" during a press conference at the National Press Club, showing the crew of an Apache holicopter shooting at civilians believed to be insurgents. The 12 civilians killed included two Iraqi Reuters employees, Saeed Chmagh, 40, a Reuters driver, and Namir Noor-Eldeen, 22, a Reuters photographer.
The video clearly shows, unarmed people with children in a van who later stop to help the wounded journalist were also shot with the 30 mm guns by the crew of the Apache holicopter. Two children survived the attack.
The Apache holicopter was identified as the "Crazy Horse" crew, who suspected the group of individuals gathered at an open center square at the New Baghdad area were armed with AK-47 assault rifles and Rocket Propelled Grenade launchers (RPGs) on July 12, 2007. The crew mistakenly identified journalist cameras as weapons, but later an investigation confirmed all the civilians were unarmed and had not notified the U.S. armed forces they were in the area.
The U.S. ground soldiers who later arrived at the scene never mentioned that any weapons were found, according to the Pentagon video. An official at the Pentagon confirmed the video's authenticity.
During the video from the Apache holicopter, non of the civilians engaged or provoked any form of attack against the Crazy Horse crew.
In 2007, the Army tried to cover up the incident when Reuters had attempted to get information and the video released, but the Army contended they didn't know how the civilians were shot.
The classified video was turned over anonymously to WikiLeaks, a group engaged in exposing astrosoties by the military.
